He only recognised her because her face was everywhere, didn’t know her name yet though, there was a lot of catching up to do yet. “Like really tasted an orange?” he asked again then. “Magnificent, honestly, one of the best things in life, I’d say”

“Listen, if you don’t have a drink for me you can turn back around” Abel said, or slurred, if you wanted to be correct about things. He swivelled his finger too, and then almost fell off the bar stool he was sitting on. They wouldn’t serve him anymore, and he was pissed about it. It had been a hard couple of weeks, and after the attack, he was struggling even more than he usually was. Tributes had still died, and then some gamemakers too, and it was hard to find the hope in it all.

He hadn’t watched much of the past games, always too busy, but he had caught some of the 124th, and it seemed every time he turned in the screen, Persephone had killed someone else, so he thought it might be smart to pick her brains. “How did you decide when to kill?“ he asked, skipping the small chat as he stood next to her, towering over her, which felt odd.

Rush was making a fire, because he was good at that, and even though he was enjoying his time here in the tower, he was a little overwhelmed with the training centre. There was so much to do, so many tributes and trainers working at different stations and he didn’t want to interrupt.

“Did you have to make fires in your arena?” He asked, realising Persephone Leon had been hovering around him.

He thought he was alone. And the song was just so catchy. And it was the first time in three months he hadn’t heard a baby cry in over 2 hours. So there he was, in the mentor’s lounge, bopping along to some weird ass country song as he stirred the ice around the glass, the last bit of whiskey collecting at the bottom. Tonight was his first night off. Ever. (Since Emme was born). And he wanted to call Rhiannon a thousand times to check on her, but she’d cut him off on his third phone call and actually told him to go have a drink, and he was still Abel, so a drink is what he was having. And a dance, apparently. 

He turned then, when he heard a noise, and suddenly realised he wasn’t exactly alone. “Oh, hello” he said, only a bit embarrassed because the alcohol felt nice as it pumped through his veins.
