Thank you so much!
My dream is to one day live on an island or a boat. One with wi-fi though, like Nim's Island.
I really want super long hair but it only takes sitting on it a few times before I get frustrated and cut a few inches off.
Yesterday I spent an hour in the hot tub explaining to a stranger how to add chia seeds and powdered kelp into your diet. As well as the benefits of herbs. What I'm trying to say is I'm a raging hippy.
I'm having an existential crisis regarding art rn.
I own enough pink items to put Umbridge to shame.
that's richard harmon :)
thank you! I don't think I've seen him as Snape before, nice choice :)
lol yes *shows up 15 minutes late to murder scene with starbucks*
Perhaps it's time to introduce myself a little since I sadly can't come "off anon" because I don't actually have a tumblr account. I'm Erin and I stumbled across your rather wonderful blog a few days ago while clicking through quiet a number of tumblrs. I hope that's okay. Umbridge really does posses a rare personality. I'm always fascinated by characters who do things without a reason or the need to explain themselves for doing them. Even more so when they are female. (EndofPart1)
And while I do believe that evil is made and not born, I think that the word "made" includes simply choosing to be as in liking it/thinking that ones actions are right. I'm undecided about Fantastic Beasts. Like you, I would love to see diversity in it. Lupita as a fabulous witch perhaps?
Hi, Erin! Aww thank you. Omg yes that's awesome actually xD I'm glad you like it. Yes, me too! I get a little bored with villains that all have terrible back stories and excuses. Not that I don't love some who are like that just I like some diversity in my villains. And I am so beyond done with female villains who fall for the main hero dude and turn good. I am not here for that. I hate that whole evil is born thing. Unless you've got some anti-Christ demon child thing going on don't try and tell me they were just born evil. Umbridge clearly chose her path and was smart enough to wait till the timing was right before striking. As much as I hate most of the villains being in Slytherin she really shows qualities of her house. Let's hope we get it. I would love to see her in such a high profile film but lbr I'd love to see her in just about anything lol
I love how you can't seem to pick a favourite. Kingsley is such an underused character isn't he? Then again, HP is full of underused characters. Don't worry. I'm much quicker at picking a favourite baddie as well. :) They're just so much fun to read/watch, right? ;)
Aww thanks, I'm terrible at picking a favourite anything most of the time lol Yes he is! With the books being from Harry's POV it's really hard to get to know a lot of the characters. POV switch when Harry and Hermoine were isolated from everyone to show the Order members as well as what was happening at the school would have been amazing. Though not knowing and then finding out with Harry made for a great read so no complaints. Ha! Most of the time villains are yeah. Though I like my villains to be awful and make me squirm. That's why Umbridge is my fav hp villain. She got stuff done, truly horrible things. And she didn't have a tragic back story or any of that nonsense. She was just ruthless and smart in how she managed to work the system to meet her ends. idk she's scarier then Voldemort to me.
I really enjoy your blog.
aww thanks you're very sweet. I'm constantly surprised that people follow. I hope you have a tremendous day/night/rest of the weekend.
Can I just say thank you for defending Peter on that post? I would have myself but being on my phone makes writing out long responses difficult. One of the biggest issues I have with the HP fandom is belittling or completely ignoring Peter. Especially in fanart and headcanons. Like, no? He was there, he was their friend, and he could hold his own against ANY of them.
No problem. I try to ignore it mostly but sometimes I just have to say something. It doesn’t help that I think JKR sort of sends out mixed messages when she talks about him. The tragedy of the Marauders is obviously that this guy who was a brother to them and who they’d die for betrays them. That’s terribly painful especially since it results in the death of one, along with his wife, and the imprisonment for the deaths of another. But then she says things that make it seem like James and Sirius just kept him around as a fanboy. That reading just takes the tragedy out of it and makes it inevitable. Of course he’s gonna betray them if that’s the case.
He’s one of those characters you really have to look at to understand and even then it’s hard to figure him out. Harry might not ever hear anyone say ‘wow that Peter what a talented wizard’ but it’s shown in the text that he is, repeatedly, and in a variety of ways. What irks me more then him being belittled is him being erased from the story completely which is what happens when he gets left out. For a fandom that seems to love pain I am completely baffled why Peter is not explored more. It doesn’t get much more painful then being betrayed by your closest friend. To me even more tragic then the death of Lily and James is the breakdown of the Marauders. In school they are brothers, they break the law for each other and risk their lives, they are a tight cohesive group. But at some point that dissolves into a mess of distrust and betrayal. How that happens is more interesting to me then Lily and James falling in love.
