the way ares kids are written pisses me off so much. Because yeah ok, maybe we are the war cabin, but that doesn’t mean that we are the one dimensional “aggressive violent bully cabin” that we always get written off as.
We are so loyal and y’all pass on it so much. An Ares kid would never betray you or wish harm on you. If you are one of us then you ARE one of us. Not even just ares either; if you are at camp, you are one of us and we will protect you.
We’re also so fucking passionate and it’s always written as just “aggressive”. We love camp and we love being a part of it, of course we’re excited for every activity and event. A war fought with no purpose is futile so of course we are going to do our best to give everything we’ve got.
Also, this isn’t stand-offish or aggression, it’s being confident and self-assured. We know who we are and we are proud of it. We know what we want and we are willing to chase it. We were told by our camp director this year to really think about who we are and what we want to see more of in the world, and that wasn’t a challenge for me. Because I’m a son of Ares. And I know that I care about my family and I want to see them safe.
We are the protectors of camp. We are the first ones responding to threats and alarms. We are the first ones stepping in front of other campers during a fight. We are the first ones to volunteer to be bait and sacrifices, but also the first to tell each other that we are NOT sacrificing ANYONE. We take care of each other and everyone at camp. Family is everything to us and if you need help, an Ares kid is ready.
tldr: everyone’s sleeping on the Ares cabin potential and as an Ares kid I think that that’s a load of shit bc we’re so much better than the “bully cabin” and we’re actually awesome
