Her mom had always told her to be careful, to watch out for what spells she cast and what she dabbled in. Jesse had grown up with the fear of demons instilled in her, but not in the way say a Catholic child would have. No she grew to fear demons the way every person intoned with magic did. Except, while she knew never to make a deal for her soul or to never trust a demon, her mother had never once mentioned this. She was desperate, to say the least, constantly hearing someone talk about how great their relationship was, how great the sex was and Jesse was sick of having to just nod and smile, to be mistaken as a prude because even at twenty, she had yet to lose her virginity. But it wasn’t for a lack of trying.
The spell wasn’t complicated, a drop of blood here, a dash of nightshade there and bada bing bada boom, instant one night stand. The consequences weren’t dire either, which is why Jesse went with this particular spell. The main point was that she wouldn’t know who or what she was getting until it was too late to do anything about it, and there were no refunds. The ‘you get what you get and you don’t get upset’ kind of deal. It wasn’t as if she was selling her soul just to get laid, the girl wasn’t that desperate, so Jesse went through with it.
It was a simple set up, easy chalk outlines on the ground and candles spread six inches apart. A standard recipe for most spells, and with her beginners understanding of Latin, she had made her bed. The spell was cast, and not even ten seconds after she finished, a gust of smoke shot out from her floor, catching her by surprise and knocking the girl flat on her ass.
The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end as a chill washed over her. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.. She was starting to second guess her plans, never had a spell once made her feel this uneasy, this nervous. And soon Jesse started to wonder why she hadn’t just listened to her mother in the first place. She was the smartest witch the girl knew. How could she be wrong about messing with demons? But even though these doubts crept in, it was too late to change it. There was no going back once the spell was cast, the book had been very clear about that. So here Jesse was, stuck with whatever she had just pulled out from hell, her nerves through the roof as her skin felt electrified from the anticipation while she watched the smoke finally clear away.
