Winter was awful for cold blooded company. Any movement was near exhausting. 

“Don’t be cruel Angel, where’s that heavenly compassion for the less fortunate?” 

His smirk carried into his words, hoping to charm his way out of any further complaints.

hi omg!! you look like such an interactive person i think i would never be bored or even in a bad mood if we were friends or if we were writing together! there’s so much on your blog to read and look at, and i think you’re adorable jack!! and self-aware too!! i’ve always wanted to have that kind of awareness of what does and doesn’t make me comfortable so i know going into something if it’s going to be successful. i hope you get all the plots and love that you deserve!!!

i hope you can one day gain some more confidence in yourself because as a stranger, objectively you seem so fun, like a fantastic writer and someone i’d get along with really really well. you have so many muses to choose from, too, which makes you seem very approachable and well-rounded!!

She stopped in the wide hallways of her home when she heard a distant crying, and sharpened the ear to identify the source of it. The entire place was quiet. Surprisingly quiet for the rooms that at any other time of the day were filled with the screaming and laughing and singing of its many inhabitants, but that now was only perturbed by the distressed noises of an unidentified source, and the even more distant sounds of a city that refused to sleep. She found the direction she was looking for and quietly started to walk there, hand on a dagger out of habit, or maybe because she had seen many things in her life that would have required the use of it. One or the other, she had no intentions of retrieving her hand from the handle.

And she didn’t, even after she found the door she was looking for.

“Iris?” The question only leaves her after assessing that there’s no one else in the room with her. “Iris, are you alright? Can I- can I come in?” Concern is clear in her voice as she waits for her answer, worried about her guest and thinking hard if she could go back to any sign or any memory that could be the source of this much in pain in her friend.

He wasn’t sure exactly how long he’d been asleep for. In all honesty he never bothered with keeping track of such inconsequential things.  But one thing was for sure. He’d made sure to draw the curtains before he went to sleep and yet still, light was finding a way to disturb his sleep even through his closed eyes. 

On top of it all, his body felt strangely numb and achey. Not helpful to someone who already didn’t feel like moving. He attempted to ease the sensation and while the stretching did get rid of the numbness it replaced it with the itchy, creeping tingles of pins-and-needles. No getting back to sleep peacefully with that. 

He forced himself to roll over onto his back, his disdainful groan coming out through his teeth as more of a hiss. Alright. Take it step by step. Easy. Sit up, pull in knees. Elbows on knees, chin in hand. Rub eyes and finally open them.

Well, this was... unexpected. He wasn’t quite sure what to say so his mouth decided rather than his brain.

“Angel?”

Runaway AU with @chcmpiions

It’s normal for children to proclaim they’d be running away when upset with their parents. It’s normal for said parents to generally ignore said announcements as children are often to wander back home as soon as it’s time for dinner. It’s normal for children to pack up snacks and a few clothes and their piggy banks.

It is less normal for children to bring knives with them when they run away. But Warlock had growth rather fond of his collection. Though his father had gifted him one twice every year since he’d been old enough to hold a pencil, the hunting and pocket knives had all gone largely unused. One had sawed through the garden hose, one had a large list of destroyed garments and furniture behind it, and another had been used to hack through his mother’s flower garden. Several of them were responsible for the myriad of cuts Warlock had received over the years.

He tossed what belongings he deemed important enough to bring haphazardly into his suitcase trunk, tying the straps together tightly rather than actually buckling them. Without a word but with several angry thoughts and a singular choice hand gesture he walked out of the house and along to a bus station. From there he hopped on the first bus that arrived and after a seemingly random number of stops decided to hop off somewhere completely new.
