Six Controllers for Under $300 Reviewed
For a small period of time, maybe between the late 80’s and late 90’s – if you wanted to be a DJ you had to pay to play. This doesn’t mean paying for lessons or paying to see a DJ that you like – it means paying for your own gear. DJs didn’t need to have the best gear out there, but this was made difficult by the lack of entry level products. The only real turntable worth buying was the Technics 1200, and it cost about the same price as is it did 20 years ago (shows how well built they actually are). For an underage kid to acquire a set of turntables and a mixer meant that he either had to have a thousand dollar saved, or generous parents. Digital DJing has made DJing as a hobby, accessible to all. In fact, one can get away with only needing a laptop controller; but they would also have the ability to add on if necessary. This is not true with a turntable and mixer, which have their defined purposes. Now, for the price of an entry level mixer alone, you can go for an all-in-one setup that covers your decks as well as the mixer. http://www.djtechtools.com/2014/05/04/start-djing-now-six-controllers-for-under-300-reviewed/
