Now, about your question, Joel didn’t reveal the woman’s identity for two reasons..

Firstly, he was so devastated by the fact that he destroyed his marriage because of his choices that he didn’t care to share the specifics. It didn’t matter to him, he didn’t seek for any kind of sympathy or excuse from anyone else.

Lastly, founding out that his wife didn’t share the identity of the woman either, only solidified his position. He knew that ultimately he was responsible for his choices and his actions. Revealing the identity of the person he slept with, felt like an attempt to shift (or at least share) the blame to someone else, in his mind.

He was so remorseful about what happened that he didn’t want anyone else to be accused of anything but himself. So, he respected his wife's decision and he followed her lead.
