Thank you @checkpointtheatre and @sifa_sg for the opportunity to play this noble, fractured character. #Repost @checkpointtheatre ・・・ Introducing Brendon Fernandez as Tim Rodriguez in DISPLACED PERSONS’ WELCOME DINNER. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Tim is a private military contractor. He is hired by OEA (Organisation for Emergency Aid) as a security consultant for Displaced Persons Camp Ezra. A US Army veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, Tim’s military stance is sometimes at odds with that of his civilian colleagues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was drawn to the idea of the career soldier, because it’s such an alien concept for me. What motivates a person to join the military, knowing – perhaps even hoping – that you might be deployed to a warzone? What convictions allow you to bear arms against other human beings? What toll does it take on the human psyche, and how does one cope?” – @brendon_fernandez ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’re 3 weeks away from opening night! Follow us to find out more about the characters in DISPLACED PERSONS’ WELCOME DINNER, and the actors portraying them. 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #displacedpersonswelcomedinner #sifa2019 #checkpointtheatre https://www.instagram.com/p/BxAjS_NHZj-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rf56m39egoro
What we’ve been working on. Deets in Checkpoint’s post below. March #1 I received 2 offers and 1 scholarship to further my studies. Still waiting on another university. But I'll officially be a Masters student in August! The application process wasn't difficult - everything is done online, but it was certainly tedious. #2 I'm done with my grade 8 piano exam! #3 My boyfriend and I celebrated our fourth anniversary.🎈 He is the rock to my fluttering balloon self. #4 Two articles are now forthcoming, and another one is in the works! Also.. how many times must I draw a laptop in my monthly recaps. I'm now acutely aware that most of my work is facilitated by the Internet and my laptop. #5 Watched Normal, a play by Checkpoint Theatre. A highly reflexive play that's bound to resonate with anyone who has been through or works in the "average" Singaporean education system. This one's for anyone who has ever felt invisible in the paper chase. I highly recommend the play and supporting local works in general!
