Look!!! Itâs Cheddorb!!! Already we are at my FAVORITE Bigsnak of all! Let us not waste any time here!
As far as Snax go, this was a rare example of one where I had no idea what I was looking it. Obviously, I could tell that the name was Cheddar plus Orb, so it was some sort of cheese ball, but the only cheese ball I knew were the crunchy snack kind. How I love that kind. But this is not that kind!
Cheddorb is based on a port wine cheese ball, a more fancy kind of cheese ball, made of mixed cream and cheddar cheese and coated with a crust of nuts! That bald spot in front that kind of looks like Cheddorbâs mouth is where some was sliced off to spread on a cracker! I have not yet made one myself because I keep forgetting to, but some day. I will know.
So the snack basis is obvious, if you know what youâre looking for. But what about the bug basis? It gets even wackier! This is an orb. Not a bug that can roll up, like Peelbug, or an orb with legs, like Wee Mewon. Just a bona fide orb that rolls! Surely there is not a bug that is an orb...?
There kind of is!!! This is the Giant Ostracod, a marine crustacean that is not actually giant by our standards, but at least it is by ostracod standards. And what do you know, itâs a sphere with big olâ eyes, making it an absolutely perfect fit for Cheddorb!
Now, Cheddorb is indeed classified as being based on a giant ostracod, but this was not always the case! Initially, the idea was that it was a giant ISOPOD, but one permanently rolled up, a champion of conglobation! However, the ostracod was even more fitting, and I think it is incredible to have Giant Ostracod Representation.
So what does Cheddorb do? It rolls and rolls and rolls! It rolls around the island, knocking down walls, and knocking away any creatures in its path. Once shrunk, however, it loses its confidence! It behaves much like a Peelbug, hiding in a log that it must be pushed out of to catch.
Cheddorb also has a Stinky Secret... that may make no sense but it will soon. You see, Cheddorb is technically a âminionâ snak, like Wee Mewon, Minimaki, Bombino, and Baby Cakelegs before it, and is the only one that is first encountered outside of a boss battle! Specifically, it is used by Cheddaboardle Rex, which uses them as projectiles. Cheddaboardle is based on a dung beetle. So... Iâm sorry, Cheddorb. But you are situationally representative of a Poop Ball. I donât love you any less for it, though! I think itâs funny!
