Motivational Meet & Greet With... Two German Power Women
Name: Lea and Nora Age: 24 and 23 City: Frankfurt am Main and Maastricht
What are you currently doing?
Lea: I am currently working in a consultancy with focus on restructuring.
Nora: As of now, I study in International Business with a focus on Sustainable Finance in the Netherlands.
What are your goals (for this year)?
Lea: This year in September/October I would like to start a one year Master program in England or France.
Nora: “Professionally”, there are several goals for me this year: First of all, completing my master studies, then spending another four months in Grenoble, France to become fluent in French and finally, finding a job. I love change – thus, I sometimes find it hard to accept that everything leads towards somewhat settling down. So my personal goal is to avoid routine by keeping myself interested in topics that go beyond my studies - for instance by taking part in a seminar on International Politics.
What is your motivation in order to reach your goals?
Lea: My motivation to reach this goal is to graduate from a good university with a Master of S.c. in one year. Going back to university, after two years of work experience, to further study business and make new experiences in different countries abroad from Germany is a goal that I wanted to reach since I left university in 2013.
Nora: Above all, I am thankful for all the opportunities I have – sometimes we take way too much for granted. To be healthy, to study and to be able to follow your interests is a very lucky situation, let alone the chance to spend time abroad and to get to know the most different people and places. So what drives me most is that I want to make the best of it.
How do you make sure you stay motivated on a daily basis?
Lea: Staying motivated isn’t always easy. Failures or plans that do not add up can really be demotivating. Keeping up my motivation mainly results out of telling myself that I always have the choice. If I am content with the situation I am in, I am also motivated to invest in it. If I am not motivated anymore I have the choice to find a way that either changes the situation or changes my way of thinking, which motivates me again. The choice is yours!
Nora: When you really love what you are doing, motivation usually just flows. But realistically, life requires you to accomplish less exciting goals quite sometimes. So when I am in a motivational low, I make sure that my expectations are not exaggerated and try to break down challenging tasks in manageable parts. Apart from that, it helps me to simply to remind myself that you cannot expect much if you do not invest in what matters to you - there is just no magic way around the fact that it usually takes effort to get where you want.
Let Lea and Nora be your inspiration, and keep their responses in mind to motivate yourself. All the strength you need is right there inside of you.
Cheers, Your Motivation.
