I'm in the Moos
The good folks at New England Cheesemaking Supply Company were kind enough to mention me in their December Moosletter! Yep, that's me, red beard and all, and like it says, I live in Brooklyn and am eager to learn all I can about cheesemaking and cheese in general, including being available to volunteer in your cheese make, on the farm, behind the cheese table, or wherever else the curd meets the road. I would also be open to exchanging web design services for the same.
And of course, if you're interested in cheesemaking, New England Cheesemaking is invaluable. Started in 1978 by Ricki Carroll, she's been teaching cheesemaking and writing books in Ashfield, Massachusetts for some 30 years now and was a true pioneer in the home cheesemaking movement long before cheese exploded into the American consciousness. Her book, Home Cheesemaking, is a must on any cheesemaker's shelf. I haven't made it out there for one of her classes yet, but I'd imagine they're great. They're also super helpful with any questions you might have related to their products or the cheesemaking process in general. If you've ever wondered where the heck to get a Valencay-shaped chevre mold, Geotrichum Candidum or a full-on cheese press (or milk heating vat, the next big-ticket item I'm eyeing covetously), NECS is a good bet.
