The stories these grand machines could tell. The provenance of a bike to me is part of its wonder and beauty. I had been searching several years for this specific motorcycle, a 1968 Honda CL175 sloper. It was only built for this one year and is highly prized by racers in the classes in which I compete. I purchased it from Debbie who lives on a farm in Wisconsin. Her father acquired the bike for her to ride on the family farm as a young girl. Years of fun ensued. Eventually Debbie grew up and her Dad leaned the bike against a wall in the barn. I choose to believe it served as a reminder of all the memories he had of watching her ride the bike around the farm. Not to long ago he passed away. Debbie was reluctant to get rid of the bike at first because it too was a touchstone to her memories of great times shared with her Dad. She eventually made the decision to sell it. She couldn't stand seeing it sitting there lifeless in the barn. When I found out it was for sale I called her immediately and shared with her my plans to give it a new life and transform it into a race bike. She got as excited as I was about my plans and we closed the deal over the phone that day. It has taken 2 months for us to finally meet. I can't wait to get it home and start the next phase of this amazing adventure. Somehow I feel her Dad is looking down and smiling as much as we are. #speedjournal #roadamerica #wisconsin #barnfind #literally #cl175 #honda #vintagehonda #motorcycle #cheesespeedtour #caferacer #croig #200gp #ahrma #provenance #startup #racebike #roadtripping (at Road America)
