Here is your daily dose of Good Things Are Still Happening In The World! Recently, two cheetah cubs were born through surrogacy at the Columbus zoo—a huge breakthrough in cheetah conservation. Cheetahs faced a massive die-off about 10,000 years ago, leaving a very small gene pool that is very susceptible to disease. These two cubs were the result of two extremely genetically viable cheetahs, viable eggs harvested in 2011 and transferred to a younger but less genetically viable cheetah in 2019. This is the first successful instance of in vitro fertilization in cheetahs.

As a child I wanted nothing more than to work in animal conservation—and still do, honestly!—so this news is HUGE. Cheetahs have always been my favorite animals and they are truly remarkable. This could be a huge step in helping their species thrive once again! ❤️
