“My skin is being kissed by the sun, body adorned in what I read the Japanese call ‘Asa’ Hemp, an ancient material with a history of royalty and prestige. I run my hand down the surface and feel the ingrained texture of the twill weave against the palm of my hand, my eyes delight at the shapes of the faces on the material, delicately painted by hand, placing me in the space between the designer and her material; the artist and her canvas. This is her medium, her art, her meraki; an essence that I as the wearer stand firmly encased in.”
