Thank you Chelsea Carroll

Thanks to the world of Tumblr I found a new poet today that I think is pretty spot on in her words. According to her Facebook page, Chelsea Carroll is a 25 year old aspiring writer. I hate to tell her, but she already is a writer because she writes. And she does so really well. 

I found this below quote recently while scrolling through this site and it spoke to me. It spoke of me. 

When my husband told me he had cheated for the first time, it was like the ground beneath my feet had dropped out. I couldn’t breath. My grounding was gone. The promises made at the altar were forever broken and I was unprepared for such things. The day I stood in my white dress, surrounded by hundreds of family and friends, and promised before God that I would love until death parted us, I meant it. But my imperfect love was not enough. The errors and mistakes outweighed the good and in the end, I was less important than the others. I became the other. 

Before that day and the 10+ years of continued cheating and betrayal, I had given my trust away so freely. I thought that as long as my intentions were pure, then those of the people around me would be as well. As long as I stayed committed then they would too. If I forgave them then they would forgive me. But it didn’t work that way. 

But it will next time. It has to work that way next time. 

Even when it is hard I’m going to love with all I have. Even when the floor feels like it may start to crack, I’m going to take a deep breath and love with all I have. Even when my heart catches in my throat and I feel like I can’t breath, I’m going to love anyway. I’m going to love unconditionally. I’m going to love with the force of a whole fan club. I’m going to love with the confidence that it will be returned. 

Because that is my truth.
