Had a ball shooting this precious 18-month-old little girl with her Dad in the park. She loved the swings and climbing up the slide backwards, why do kids love to do that, I remember I liked to do that too, not sure why though ;-) | ©2016 Photos by Cheriss May, www.cherissmay.com

WASHINGTON, D.C. — First Lady Michelle Obama entered the auditorium at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) on Wednesday carrying a large red sack filled with toys. Mrs. Obama was introduced by Retired Lt. General Henry Osman, President and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. As part of the Joining Forces initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama delivered toys and gifts donated by White House staff to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign.
"We should all be reaching out to one another and showing compassion for those who struggle, even if they’re different from us –- in fact, especially if they’re different from us,” Mrs. Obama said.

Sanders: 'It is Very Expensive to be Poor’
By Cheriss May | Ndemay Media Group
BALTIMORE, MD. – On a cool, but sunny Tuesday morning, residents waited at the bus stop, workers were busy on the reconstruction of the CVS at 2509 Pennsylvania Ave. that was burned down during Freddie Gray protests. Gray was arrested last April before he died in police custody. A black van pulled up and out stepped Senator Bernie Sanders with Reverend Jamal Bryant and other Baltimore community leaders. Reverend Bryant, the pastor and founder of Empowerment Temple Church in Baltimore, accompanied the senator on a walking tour of the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood where 25-year-old Gray had lived and protests took place after his death.
Sen. Sanders and Rev. Bryant surrounded by media, started at the corner of the burned down CVS and made their way through about 4 blocks of the neighborhood. Residents called out their support to Sen. Sanders for president and also called for better public housing conditions. Sen. Sanders had this to say about his tour of the neighborhood, “It probably costs more to eat here”, adding that he didn’t see a grocery store in the community. “What are you supposed to feed your kids? Potato chips? The point being it is very expensive to be poor.”
After the tour, the group returned to the Freddie Gray Empowerment Center, located blocks from the courtroom where a trial is underway for the first of six police officers charged in Gray’s death, for a roundtable discussion and press conference.
