planning something... here are the sketches behind it!

i really think if Lear would wear a yukata, he'd wear one with a haori over it OR one designed to include fur. because of elegance and a nod to his status as a prince!

(though, if the setting is a summer festival, i think the fur would make him heat up..)

rereading the PML arc. again. what a shocker!!

a detail i will never not obsess over is Cheren's observance of Lear after he loses to MC. even before the battle, he's already well aware that Lear will be a "tough cookie to crack." and after the battle against MC and their team, Cheren is the only person to notice that Lear doesn't use sync moves.

AND THEN. Cheren manages to follow Sawyer to the cavern WITHOUT BEING SEEN because he's just THAT nosy when it comes to Lear and finds out about Hoopa being taken. and despite Lear's continuous annoyance with Cheren as he seems to follow him around all the time after that point, it doesn't stop Cheren for wanting to delve deeper.

he's watching Lear. he sees right through him because he's seen this film before. he lived it. and so, he delves deeper. he confronts Lear and successfully manages to get his walls of unfeeling arrogance to crash and fall when he taunts Lear. that he'll never be king if remains the way he is.

THAT is my most favorite bit of Cheren's Intervention because the tension between the two of them is so thick that you can cut it with a knife. Cheren is COLD. giving Lear that wake-up call that Rachel and Sawyer tried to give but failed to do so.

and Lear gets angry at Cheren, because no one had ever spoken to him the way Cheren had to him, and challenges him to a battle right on the spot. eager to mop the floor with him and put Cheren in his place, but in the end, gets his ass handed to him.

the potential this entire arc with Lear has to be animated, fleshed out. i think about a fully animated, fully voice-overed Cheren's Intervention an awful lot, along with the entirety of Lear's character arc in general. just. AAAAAAGHH. WHY DENA WHYYY–

i read sawyer's sync pair story the other night and LOOK WHOS HERE. basically MC stumbles upon lear training with rachel and cheren and sawyer are on the sidelines BUT LIKE LEAR ASKED CHEREN TO JOIN HIM???

and sawyer mentions lear taking after his parents...

and...

CHEREN ASKS ABOUT HIS MOTHER??

BRUHHDYFHFH. cheren is so close to lear, to the point that he joins him, rachel and sawyer for training AND asks about personal things about him. DENA. DENA WHEN I CATCH YOU, WHEN I CATCH YOU–

the amount of serotonin and joy i felt reading all of this. and sawyer cares so much about lear, too, he then talks about lear's mother and honchkrow AND ITS JUST REALLY SWEET.
