Cherry always wanted to be strong for you. He rarely showed you his more vulnerable side because he was afraid of the judgement he would get. No matter how many times you tried to convince him that it was okay, he still wouldn't budge. He never wanted you to think of him as less of a man(even though you could never think of him as anything less of the most wonderful man you had ever met).
After a particularly heated argument, Cherry decided to sign up for the military and well, the rest is history.
Ever since Cherry came back from Iraq, he's been having nightmares. He often wakes up at random times in the night which in turn causes you to wake up looking for him. Cherry is the type to have nightmares where he wakes up shaking and sweating which gets on the bed. So one night, after one of the more scary nightmares about you getting blown up in the truck with Jimenez, Cherry woke up in a freezing cold sweat with tears flowing down his face. You had woken up previously because Cherry was also the type to scream and toss when the nightmare became bad so you got used to waking up late.
"Honey, are you okay?" you cooed.
"Mhm, are you okay?" Cherry responded shakily.
"I'm fine but I think you should go sit on the couch for a bit while I clean the sheets." you said, rubbing his shoulder lovingly
"What, why? They look-"
He was cut off by the Cherry shaped sweat stain on the bed:
"Okay. I'm sorry" he said defeated.
"It happens darling" you said.
You got up and threw the sheets in the washing machine. You also saw Cherry practically shaking on the couch. You wondered why something so terrible could happen to the man you loved the most in the whole wide world. So you ran a nice, warm bath for Cherry; making sure to pull out his favorite shirt and pj pants. You added some bath salts, soak, and a bath pillow for him:
"Honey, can you come to the bathroom please?" you called.
Cherry had dozed off for a bit before abruptly waking up at your words:
"Coming" he said, kind of in a daze.
He saw the bath and looked at you with grateful and tired eyes:
"For me?" he mumbled
"Yep. All for you." you smiled.
"Thank you so much, you didn't have to-" he started.
"I wanted to" you said reassuringly.
He smiled before getting in. You gave him a back massage while in the bath, making sure he didn't fall too deep into a slumber. Once you drained the bath, you got him dressed and in new clothes. Thankfully, while waiting for the bath to fill you had already put new sheets on the bed. He got in the new sheets and clothes and situated in the bed. You laid your leg over his hip and your arm around his torso:
"Why'd you do all of this for me?" he said
"Because I love you and you deserve the best" you said.
"I'm so in love with you" he said half conscious, half not.
You laughed to yourself and kissed him before falling asleep next to the man you loved.
