One of my favorite pubs in London is Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. It was rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666. The literary figures Oliver Goldsmith, Mark Twain, Alfred Tennyson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, G.K. Chesterton, P. G. Wodehouse and Samuel Johnson are all said to have been regulars. If you visit London, be sure to stop by for a pint or for dinner. So much history here. #london #yeoldecheshirecheese #cheshirecheese #londonpub #uk #zagleftadventures #photooftheday #stayandwander #liveauthentic #awakethesoul #welivetoexplore #awesome_earthpics #artofvisuals #igmasters #peoplescreatives #bestvacations #beautifuldestinations #roamtheplanet #ourplanetdaily #travelwriter #tourism #passportready #travelphotography #tagsta_travel #solotravel #dametraveler #womenwhoexplore #womenwhotravel #TLpicks @roamtheplanet @instagood @artofvisuals @ourplanetdaily https://www.instagram.com/p/BsHZS36gjJR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mtmzusl8g1q7

LONDON from St. Paul's to The Strand London is a fasinating city. A short walk from St. Paul's to the Strand, slightly over half a mile, you encounter so many places of interest. The view from the sixth floor at One New Change www.onenewchange.com is spectacular. You can see St. Paul's Cathedral dome in all its splendour (a section of it in the top photograph above). The Cathedral sits at the highest point of the City of London and has stood there since it opened its doors in 1708. Sir Christopher Wren was the Architect. Since 16th June 2011 it shines brightly after 15 years of restoration. The steps are a favourite place for City workers to sit and have their lunch in the summer sunshine. From the sixth floor at One New Change, I took the photograph of The Shard. The highest viewing platform in London. I have just noticed, they are offering a good Spring Saver on tickets to enjoy the view. Which ends on 31st March. Seeing the view with a nice glass of champagne as the sun is setting sounds like a good plan. London Bridge is the nearest underground station to The Shard www.the-shard.com The entrance to Temple Court is intriguing. A hidden world of Barristers amongst architecture dating back to the 12th Century. The Temple Church (a section of it in fourth photograph) welcomes visitors from all over the world to the oasis of calm. www.templechurch.com A peaceful place to go to one of their concerts. The Apex Temple Court Hotel would be an amazing place to stay hidden away from traffic. Also to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, lunch or dinner. www.apexhotels.com The Royal Courts of Justice is down the road (fifth photograph). Opened in 1882 by Queen Victoria and designed by George Edmund Street in Victorian Gothic style. In a little alleyway off Fleet Street is The Cheshire Cheese pub. Dating all the way back to Charles II. Frequented by Charles Dickens. Where he wrote his journal All Year Round. Nowadays writers probably sit there with their MacBook Air computers. The bright and colourful publishing house D C Thomson is the last newspaper publisher to have an office on Fleet Street. The Beano must bring back delightful happy childhood memories to the workers and visitors to Fleet Street. Still going strong since it was first published in 1938. A lovely place to stop and have a cup of tea or coffee is The Twinings Shop and Museum. Whilst the friendly, knowledgeable staff introduce you to the many flavours and blends. In 1837 Queen Victoria gave the Royal Warrant to the sixth head of Twinings, Richard Twining which gave Twinings the status of official supplier to the royal household, a status it retains to this present day. At 216 Strand. www.twinings.co.uk
