Mum fried these Salmon Steaks 🐟 for dinner. While frying makes the skin crispy, I preferred eating this oily fish sashimi style or at the very least, half cooked like just torching the surface of the fish. The next dish is Spicy Asparagus with Squid 🦑 and minced pork using our own blend of chilli paste. Most of the time, mum cooked it with tiger prawns as the price of squids are much higher since they are wild caught.
A bowl of reheated Pork & Shrimp Dumpling Soup 🥟 (水饺汤) mum bought in the morning. These Fried Fishcakes (鱼饼) are also from the market which mum fried. In Singapore 🇸🇬, our fishcakes, fish balls and fish paste are typically made from redbelly yellowtail fusilier 🐟 (Caesio cuning) also known as potato fish (黄尾鱼/番薯鱼) or from Spanish mackerel 🐟 (马鲛鱼).
