Chesne: It is hard to feel the same amount of grief hundreds of years later. I think of him occasionally, and it bothers me that I never actually figured out what happened to him. ... So yes. I do miss him, but it is not overwhelming and the thoughts do not come up too often.
Okay so while working on the modern short for the Quest Bois I started thinking about the foundation. Eventually they would find out about Chesne and Eudes. Right? They would have too. The summoning "ritual" is super simple and definitely more common as books of "fairy tales" are put into print and circulated around the world. Id think that Chesne and Eudes would start as like local myth whose story moves outwards, kinda like the Rumpelstiltskin story or king Arthur's tales (but not as famous as either of those. Maybe a better example would be snow white and rose red or dapplegrim)
More under cut I ramble.... And spoilers I guess? Ehhhhh
I guess I should write out some clarification and then walk through my thoughts. Putting this out there (with the potential for change) cause it is world building and I want to.
So Chesne and Eudes' method of going from place to place where they are summoned in modern times is a small metal band with runes that each have around one ankle hidden in their boots. All they have to do is ride around a corner and they appear back home, which at this point is Rets cave, which is more of a series of connected cave "rooms" and "halls". Then to go elsewhere they ride through the stable rooms exit and appear where the summoning has happened.
As their story is published more places, they are more likely to get accidental summonings. Also kids talk. Got scared of dark and saved by cool knights? Tell your friends. Then tell your own kids when u get old. So they only grow in serious and accidental summonings.
Someone is bound to notice, from the Foundation I mean. Two dudes riding horses, wearing armor? With repeat appearances in a wide variety of places with many witnesses? Pretty much a red flag.
So the questions are as follows.
1) How long will it take for the Foundation to take note and try to act?
2) Can they capture both at once?
(if one gets away they are going back for the other)
3) Do Chesne and Eudes ever run into the Foundation and find out about them before they are found out?
4) What would be the Foundations first move?
5) Can Eudes and Chesne figure out a way to differentiate summonings from those in real need and and the summonings from the Foundation?
It's a lotta questions that my brain can't act on. This is why I could never write an actual article. Too much ヘ(。□°)ヘ confusion. Mmmm. (Also their just silly little oc children of mine. Not strong enough to fly from the nest. Babies) I am very mmmm.
Random thought; Since I'm thinking of Chesne as immortal, if he ran into 049 now would he still recognize his brother? Would his danger sense go off cause Corbiau has death hands?
Also if/when the Foundation catches Chesne and Eudes would they figure out Chesne is 049s older brother? If so would that make them more or less inclined to have a cross test... I would think more but mm.
I dunno. Also! With the summoning conditions being 1) in need of aid and/or on a quest and 2) calling upon both, is it plausible for them to accidentally get summoned into increasingly silly situations. Like a kid in France or who has a book of french fairytales learns about a duo of heros who will help those in peral who invokes their names for a piece of homework or a kick ball match or something. I just think the idea is funny. Or like an accidental thing, like how people say stuff like oh Lord in surprise? Like if someone is just thinking about their story at work and is like " man I wish eudes and chesne were here to help get me out. I'd rather be adventuring" and then they are there. I know a little silly. But hey what are ocs for u know.
