Celine Dion - Taking Chances
Ok, I'll admit it. I'm man enough. Sometimes, I like myself some Celine Dion. C'mon, I mean, who doesn't enjoy a quirky Canadian at times? I feel like Celine's gotten a bad rap. Honestly, I blame that fucking Titanic song. One bad power ballad is all you need to tarnish your reputation for life, apparently. Yet, I gave Celine a second chance. Truth be told, very few people on the planet can belt out a song like she can, and that deserves some props. And while Ms. Celine I-will-pound-my-chest-as-many-times-as-I-damn-well-please Dion has plenty a love song to chose from, this is probably my favorite. Yes, it's a little corny. Sure, Celine in hooker shoes, patent leather and playing some kind of spy/S&M master in the video is somewhat amusing. But, come on, be honest: who hasn't felt this way at one point? Where you meet someone, and you know you're moving way too fast, but you just want them to take your hand and jump in. Who hasn't felt the restrain of hesitation or the nausea of uncertainty? But through all that, you find a person who takes the plunge with you, into the unknowing, on an adventure in each other. There's something to be said about those first moments of a relationship, where everything is new - and to quote Sex and the City - where everything is foreplay. There's not a feeling like it. So I pray you to heed Ms. Dion's advice and take a chance, especially when it comes to love. Who knows, you may live happily ever after. And maybe, just maybe, you'll end up with a wedding tiara like hers.
