From Cam's point of view, a bedroom and a bathroom were two different rooms. Hence the reason to have separate words for them, right? So what he had not expected, when he'd knocked his friend's bedroom door to check if he was in there, was a big cast iron, clawfoot bathtub in the middle of the chamber - with a very naked Giacomo inside.

"Jesus, Giac!" he complained, slapping a hand in front of his eyes even though the Venetian clearly wasn't bothered by his nudity. "Ye even said 'come in'! Ye coulda jest asked me tae wait until ye were done!"

Clarice regretted coming to Venice. Sure, it was a beautiful place full of beautiful people and beautiful things, but she had not felt comfortable the entire time she had been there. For one, corsets were murder, for another, everyone seemed to look down on her and treat her like a servant. 

She technically was, at the end of the day, merely a companion and plaything for the daughter of her benefactors, but she was a free-born woman and expected to be treated as such. Her companion and foster-sister, Bella, was living up to her name as the belle of the ball. Everyone was staring at her in her crimson gown and winning smile and Clarice was in the corner, observing and waiting for when they could return to their rented villa for the night.

Suddenly, she felt eyes on her, sharp and piercing, and she looked towards the feeling nagging in her brain to see the eyes belonged to a man that looked a little older than her. She met them for a moment, mostly in confusion, before accepting a cup of wine from a passing servant with a tray and sipping from it to have something to do with her hands.

“You know... you know what I hate most about him? His pretension,” Allen slurred. “Just had to make things difficult for us poor pianists, the bastard.”

He made a wide gesture with his hands that nearly turned the white wine out of his glass. The evening was young, but the young man had already done more than his share of partying. His fingers lazily brushed against the piano keys, slowly settling into a deep and gentle rolling melody.

“Not so terrible as what you go through, though,” Allen continued, squinting and tensing every so often as the song gained momentum. “You violinists have it far worse. We get interpretations of Paganini; you get Paganini.”

   SHE HUMS softly, arms slowly draping over his shoulders as she leans down from behind his seat on the couch. Irene is, perhaps, disturbing him in a rare moment of peace in his own home ( why else retreat to the library unless he seeks to bother a certain frenchman just as she is with him ) but he expects this. She’s long since learned that. Her chin rests on his shoulder and she can already feel his gaze shift away from the book in his hands to trying to gain a better look at her.

  ‘ That can be a risky choice, my love. ’  Fingers tap against his chest before she stands up, hands tracing his shoulders as she moves out from behind his seat to find her own beside him. She is quick to tuck herself into his side, half of her back pressed against his chest. ‘ Lucky you there is no risk this time. ’
