Am i the only one who’s scared of posting on Twitter because of all the stuff that’s going on??
I feel bad cause I haven’t been posting nearly as much but ever since the last mcc I have just been nervous.
Like it never occurred to me how scary the place is until now when the communities I feel somewhat safe in end up in arguments y’know? Anyways I should be posting a mcyt poll later today and streaming on my channel.
Just wanted to do a slight vent if this counts…idk… it’s just very iffy for now right now.
Childhood friends AU, I think I wrote one before but it was slightly different.
---
Imagine an au where Josuke and Rohan's mothers were old college friends and would often visit each other's homes, meaning tagging along Mrs. Kishibe was a very irritated kid Rohan. He had long given up on trying to tug at the tight grip his mother held on him, but it didn't stop the child from openly whining about wanting to go home. He knows how this usually went down in these encounters and that meant he would be ditched into looking after that rambunctious child Josuke. The overzealous brat doesn't know the meaning of personal space and is always following him around like a lost puppy, it was so ridiculous! Not to mention the last time they were together, Rohan had to apologize for making Josuke cry over not wanting to share his color pencils with him, and he knew Josuke didn't want them, he just wanted to know what he was doing.
As little Rohan mulled over these thoughts, he failed to notice how quickly they managed to reach the Higashikata household as his mother rang the doorbell. The one to answer was no other than Ms. Higashikata, offering a warm entry for the two guests as she hugged her old friend and cooed at Rohan. Rohan didn't dislike Ms. Higashikata, the only thing that bothered him was her tendency to tease him about his frowns or ruffle his head when she so pleased. She offers them a seat in the living room as she made her way to the kitchen for some snacks, shortly afterwards so did his mother chatting excitingly about a job promotion she recieved in S city. With that, Rohan took this opportunity to glance around the room and notices that the room was awfully quiet for once. What could be missing here? Well it didn't take long to see what it was when he hops off the couch and accidentally steps on a power ranger toy- it was Josuke.
Usually by then, the brat would have been trying to pester Rohan if he wanted to play toys him but it seems that wouldn't be the case that day. Curious, Rohan decides to go search for him and finds him in his room, sitting on the floor holding on to something. Upon closer inspection, Rohan discovers it to be a fish bowl with one little goldfish floating around.
When Josuke sees Rohan, his smile widen and calls Rohan over to look at it. His name as "goldie" and his mother won it at the summer carnival they went to last week. By the looks of it, Rohan was relieved to hear Josuke can now focus his energy into something other than annoying Rohan, but strangely enough he felt a pang of loneliness; maybe he had grown fond of him without knowing it but decided it was best he leave Josuke to himself and left the room. Not a moment afterwards, Rohan hears the sound of glass shattering and ran quickly to see if Josuke was okay.
What he saw were fragments of the fish bowl scattered on the floor, a mess of water and a fish gasping weakly for water. Josuke seemed to be alright for the most part, aside from the heavy droplets of tears falling down his face, rubbing his eyes and hiccuping about how he only wanted to fill the bowl with more water and tripped over the rug making his way out of the room.
Rohan didn't know what to say so he ran back out to search for a pail to place the fish in but it was too late, when he returned the fish had stopped moving. That only caused Josuke to wail more, drawing the attention of their concerned mothers. They realized what happened and they both decided to call it a day and Rohan was dragged him out of the room.
It's been a few days since Rohan visited Josuke after that disaster, but he couldn't help but worry if Josuke was okay after that. He couldn't help but feel responsible for it even if he wasn't directly involved in the accident. So the young artist built up the courage to ask his mother if they could visit the Higashikatas with the goal of wanting to cheer Josuke up.
Watching over Josuke had helped him learn a few of his habits and as Rohan had suspected, he found Josuke sitting alone by the tree in his backyard. Rohan was never the one to confront others, doing his best to avoid any sort of conflict that didn't involve him, but there he was setting off with a backpack in his arms to sit next to sulking child. They sat next to each other in silence for a long moment before Josuke asks him why was he there. Rohan answered that he was worried about him, but in return he recieves a cold response from the other about how he knew that wasn't the truth- that he knew Rohan found him annoying and his mother probably told him to be friends with him; after all he was the "weird kid" or the "hafu freak" in the neighborhood that nobody wanted to be friends with, but he thought that with having a pet he wouldn't have to worry about it. This made Rohan felt guilty, not only for how mean he treated the younger kid but for also avoiding him. He was just used to being by himself given was an only child, and assumed Josuke would be used to it but to think he was alienated by other kids didn't sit well with him. It made Rohan upset and protective of Josuke, someone as happy and caring as him shouldn't be treated so harshly. So he did the only thing that felt right and hugged the other kid, reassuring him that there was nothing wrong with him and they were friends even if he was weird but it's not boring. Then Rohan searches through his backpack to pull out a drawing of Goldie.
Josuke looked at the drawing then back to Rohan with wide glossy eyes before tackling him into a hug, knocking the wind out of the other's lungs with a thud. Rohan should have seen it coming but he didn't have to will to pry Josuke off of him. After many tears and snot, Josuke gets off and returns back to his happy self, practically beaming at him and asking Rohan if he can help him stick the drawing to the wall in his room. For once, Rohan didn't refuse and followed the excited boy back into the house.
Imagine if Rohan were to meet each Joestar (pt. 1-6):
- He would find Jonathan to be a man worthy of admiration, from his complicated origins to his godly physique and knowledge in archaeology and history, he would find this joestar the most intriguing and they both would share an affinity to the fine arts and literature. Although Jonathan wouldn't be a huge fan of Pink Dark Boy for the horror themes.
- For Joseph, his rowdiness and confrontational behavior would rub Rohan the wrong way, almost like Josuke except even more impulsive and childish than him. He finds Joseph to be incredibly annoying with his foul mouthed comments and shitty pranks, and Joseph would enjoy getting on his nerves on purpose. Rohan couldn't believe the senile Mr. Joestar he knew turned out to be a prick in his adolescent years, however he couldn't deny how impressive it was for Joseph to take out vampire aztec gods at that age. Perhaps he should ask the old Mr. Joestar to read his pages. (Oh and young Joseph wouldn't have hesitated to kick Rohan ass or fling him in a pit of vampires, pushing Rohan into believing he really was Josuke's father)
- Jotaro not as talkative as the Jotaro he'd met and was A LOT more intimidating then he appeared but upon closer inspection Rohan comes to realize that he's just level headed and doesn't bother to express himself like the other Joestars do, coming across as callous. He probably has many interesting experiences and Rohan would want to sketch this Jotaro (EOH reference lol), but he would respect Jotaro's privacy on that matter; Besides, he's another Joestar he wouldn't want to mess with in the past and present.
- JOSUKE, just no. Rohan will admit he considers the unsufferable delinquent to be an ally in the sense that he had rescued his life during Highway Star and also saved those around him during the Kira incident, but it still didn't make up for his hotheadedness and greedy behavior. He still owes him for burning his house down and sending him to the hospital for month! (And as much as Rohan hates to admit it, Josuke is a good guy, but his actions and words can be contradicting, making it frustrating for the mangaka to read him as a character.)
- For Giorno, Rohan would see a certain flair to him, similar to Jonathan, a very charismatic gentleman with a mysterious, dangerous aura around him. Koichi had told him he was the head of the italian mafia and Rohan honestly believed him. I think Giorno would be wary of Rohan given how inquisitive he was at first but would gradually relax into a conversation about stand users, and other topics such as the sceneries and fashion in Italy.
- As for Jolyne, Rohan wouldn't be able to wrap his head around how Mr. Kujo had a child, let alone said child going to prison, but it seems she's very different from Jotaro, more rambunctious and aggressive. As far as he could tell she was very defensive and indifferent for a reason, and it left room for imagination to how Jotaro could have messed up as a father but Rohan decides to offer her space on the matter. Maybe he should tell Josuke and Jotaro spend time with her.
(Since the world resets in parts 7-8, I can only assume Rohan ceases to exist)
Continuation to the Ghost Reimi haunting Rohan
Dedicated to @hittossan since you wanted to see what happens next!
---
A few weeks prior to the posession incident, Reimi had found herself in Morioh once more only this time without her beloved pet Arnold. For what reason? It was beyond her. However, instead of it filling her with unease and sadness, she viewed it as a chance to spend time with Rohan after finding him on his way to the local art store near Owson.
The intial shock in Rohan's face was quite hilarious, with eyes blown wide as if he had seen a ghost to almost dropping the supplies he was carrying on the sidewalk when she came by to say hello. It was understandable, considering the last time they've seen each other was when he reluctantly admitted to missing her, thinking it would be the final time they would see each other. Reimi playfully teased him on the matter before letting Rohan ask about her return. All she could do was shrug at this, telling the artist that she's stuck here, alone as she faced away from him to let out a dramatic tired sigh.
Her ploy must have been so obvious to Rohan if his eye rolling was any indication of it, and yet despite this, he still invites her to stay with him. After all, he wasn't so heartless as the leave his deceased babysitter in town, even if nothing can harm her. Besides, maybe he can question her about what she about the past since asking about her struggle against Kira was still a touchy subject.
And like that they both became roomates, or something similar to it. For the most part, Reimi would keep Rohan company over in his studio talking about various topics, complimenting his artwork while bringing up some old drawings he gave her as a kid (although Rohan venomously refused it), and also reminding him to eat or sleep occasionally before going off to explore the spacious rooms the mansion had to offer.
One thing she had noticed about the mansion was the lack of framed photos on the walls. It revealed an image of loneliness which was a stark contrast to the Kishibe household she came to know. Did something else occur after she passed away? She tried asking Rohan about the photos before and was told that he had no use for them, but they were safe with his grandmother and nothing more beyond that.
She decided it was best to not pry into it as she continued her exploration- most of the rooms were nicely decorated but ultimately favorite place to be in so far was in the attic; although it remained dusty and seemed nothing more than a storage room with a few trunks and furniture covered with blankets, she enjoyed it for the large gazebo-like window panes, giving her a perfect view of the moon illuminating the small seaside town she grew up in. She would find herself sitting by the ledge once Rohan had fallen asleep, wondering if Rohan ever invited others to visit his home. She knew he was a private person yet it made her heart ache with sympathy on how different he was from the Rohan she once knew.
She wanted to help him at least with this, so she began trying to involve the people Rohan knew into their conversations. It had worked well for a moment until she came to the subject of Josuke Higashikata where he quickly soured and went on a long rant on how he hated the overgrown delinquent for being friends with someone as respectful and kind as Koichi. And out of respect for the prideful artist, she had to cover her mouth to hide her giggles, seeing how this was the first time since they spoke that Rohan had opened up to her about someone without dodging or going for the short responses she was used to when she asked personal questions. It made her remember a similar situation when Rohan was coming home from elementary school with a bloody nose and tattered clothing, wiping away fat tears that threatened to fall from his eyes as he tells her how much he hated Kyoko from his class for beating him up. It was partially his fault that time considering he harshly criticized her drawings, but in the end she remembered Rohan harboring a crush on that girl and drew a picture of flowers as an apology for what he had done.
Of course Reimi had to make sure so she often brought up the subject of Josuke just to gauge the mangaka's reactions and learned he held some respect for the teen despite the trash talking. She even found a sketch of Josuke when she was peeking through one of Rohan's recent sketchbooks, prompting her to believe that there was something more there. She didn't confirm it until she accompanied (followed) Rohan in one of his outings to visit Koichi and his friends ("Koichi's friends" Rohan corrected her) to see how the two interacted. It was unbearable to watch with Rohan rejecting any politeful advances from the teen, yet making his annoyance evident when one of Josuke's fangirls stopped by to flirt with the him. Rohan wouldn't acknowledge Josuke at all after that, holding conversations with Koichi or even Mikitaka who rarely came to these meetings.
It was so clear Rohan had a thing for Josuke and by the looks of it so did Josuke, so when she had possessed Rohan she thought of it as a blessing in disguise and made Rohan spit out the words he wouldn't have been able to say on his own. Sure it cause Rohan ignore her for a few days... and run and hide himself away from everyone, but it was worth it when she sees Josuke appear by the doorsteps of Rohan's house.
And now the once empty house she occupied in was filled with life as she hears the loud clamoring over some board game in the living room. It was mostly from Okuyasu and Josuke, but she would faintly hear a chuckle or two coming from Rohan as well. In the kitchen, there was the sound of a microwave dinging over some pizza poppers that finished cooking, and the light chattering of Koichi and Yukako as they looked through the cupboards for plates to serve. Humming to herself, she made her way up the stairs only to stop by Rohan's studio, quietly entering the space as she hovered over his desk. There she sees two photo frames standing on the left corner of the desk, one with Rohan and his friends and another of just Rohan and Josuke- with Josuke wearing the dopiest grin on his face while holding a flustered Rohan by the waist. She couldn't help but smile contently for the new couple as she made her way to the attic.
For some strange reason she felt more relief than she ever had when Kira was no longer a threat and found herself feeling tired. As she rested against the window ledge once more, she discovered there was a portrait of herself, with the words "thank you Reimi" written on the bottom of the canvas. If she had the energy to cry she would have done so, wishing she could remain by Rohan's side for as long as she was allowed to, however knowing that her Ro-chan was going to be okay was enough for her to finally drifted to a dreamless sleep.
Imagine Rohan being a famous artist and aside from being well-known for his psychological horror manga Pink Dark boy, he also anonymously dabbled in ink blot portraits for local museums.
No one would suspect the quiet, charmingly reclusive artist to be responsible for the recent disappearances and murders in Tokyo as he carefully chose his victims and extracted their blood to create the 'perfect ink', also making sure to utilize their expressions of fear and despair to the best of their intended use before he finishes up. No one would suspect the human skulls perched up on his bookshelf to be real ones because it would be considered normal for a horror artist to have anatomical models.
Well, all except for one infuriating cop, Josuke.
Their first encounter had taken place at an art museum. By chance, they were both viewing Rohan's recent ink portrait labeled "Thespian," with blotchy hues of black, blue and red stretching out abstractly yet also fluid as the colors intermingled and became submerged in that inky black. Rohan was only there to make certain that his artwork was placed on display accordingly when he found Josuke sitting by a nearby bench across from the art piece. At this, Rohan posed as a fan of his own portrait and offered a basic opinion to start their conversation. He suggested how intriguing the artwork looked, while Josuke gave it a hard look before telling Rohan that "it seems as if the artist is holding a secret, but it gives off the feeling of lament and anger..."
If Rohan was a lesser man he would have laughed at that, given how FAR from the truth that was, but what the cop said next brought the feeling to a halt as he continued:
"In fact, this reminds me of a recent case I'm handling over in the precinct. Like a splattered mess that held no remorse for the victim. Oh, but enough about that, I didn't properly introduce myself. My name is Josuke, and I guess you can tell what I do for a living now huh?"
At that moment, Rohan was left with two choices: to offer Josuke a fake name and leave their conversation at that, hopefully never meeting the man again, or to introduce himself properly and befriend the officer, getting close enough to not raise suspicion. He chooses the latter instead, his mind overwhelmed with the thought of how thrilling HOW EXHILARATING it would be to fool this cop and possibly capture the genuine feeling of betrayal, horror, and despair the moment Rohan revealed himself as the serial murderer in Tokyo. Yes, as the saying goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and Josuke is perfect muse for that.
(P.S. there's a reason to why Rohan murders but it is a secret.)
Imagine an au where Reimi haunts Rohan after DiU and could have possessed Rohan at any time without knowing it.
The first time it happened would have been by accident when she was trying to convince Rohan to get out of his studio to eat something. She was so heated over his stubbornness over this that she made an attempt to grab him by the shoulders and then everything went black. Then light filled her vision once more and she finds herself blinking owlishly, with her rose-colored eyes looking over at the pencils in callused hands, gripping them slowly with an long forgotten sensation while she hears Rohan freaking out in her mind. 'Their mind' she suspected when she discovered she had taken over Rohan's body by mistake, however she wasn't so worried and carried off to do what she was set off to do ignoring Rohan's complaints.
Unfortunately before she was able to leave the house, they heard the sound of the doorbell chime and Rohan immediately remembered that Koichi had invited him for lunch later on that day with company (not his friends, especially not Josuke). So Reimi tried to put her best imitation of Rohan before letting the boy in, covering her pink eyes with Gucci shades. Least to say, Koichi was a little suspicious with how reserved and friendly he seemed, but was easily convinced with the reason being Rohan just having a good day with his work. Reimi could only laugh in their thoughts how her little Ro-chan had a good friend that looked after him to which Rohan proudly agreed.
Keeping up the charade was a lot harder than she expected. She quickly realized Rohan doesn't smile as often as he should, nor freak out over how cute Yukako's dessert looked with small animal crackers and strawberry pocky sticks sprinkled on top or even apologize?? for an outburst- but most of all, she forgot to grab Rohan's sketchbook which brought on more confusion to the rest of their company. For once, Reimi made it seem as if Rohan was being attentive and making an effort to want to hang out with them which made Josuke worry if he was feeling ok. Even worse, Okuyasu asking if he was going to die soon. By then, Rohan was already telling at her they needed to leave ASAP before they caught on to the act, but instead she remained calm and went for the excuse of "wanting to be friends and to get to know you guys better and apologize for how much of a jerk I can be"
If Rohan was able to facepalm himself at Reimi's performance of impersonating him, he would have already done so with both of his hands, however, to his surprise, it wasn't unwelcomed to the group. Heck, even Yukako gave a small smile of approval, to which Okuyasu and Josuke began to furiously discuss outing trips they should all go on together since he's part of the group now. Rohan couldn't understand why he was feeling warm despite not being in control of his body anymore until he heard Reimi telling him that 'a little kindness goes a long way and that he had people who also cared about him despite what he believed.' She was really happy to see that, and hadn't missed Josuke sneaking in a few glances here and there over at their direction. It was so obvious that Josuke had a thing for Rohan,
And since she's been around Rohan longer now she was the only one who knew about Rohan's small crush over Josuke so before she left out of Rohan's body she made sure to blurt out an "I love you Josuke" from Rohan's mouth, earning astonished looks from everyone sitting in the table and a Josuke rendered speechless as a rosy blush covers his face and ears.
She knew she made the right choice even if an embarrassed Rohan was cursing her name and yelling at her direction at the top of his lungs. 💟
Imagine time travel aus but with a twist, instead of present characters going to the future, it's a future character going to the past.
Rohan would be working in his studio one evening when he hears a loud crash downstairs in the living room and thinks it's an intruder but no- to his surprise (and frustration) it's Higashikata. Right before Rohan has the chance to call out Heaven's Door, Josuke runs towards him and tackles him to the ground, effectively shutting Rohan's mouth with his hands and hastily telling him,
("I'm so sorry about this but you probably wouldn't give me the time to explain this. I remember how impatient you were back then!")
After a few minutes of struggling and muffled cursing under Josuke's hands, Rohan finally calms down and gives him a quizzical look. What did this Josuke mean 'by back then'? Now that Rohan thinks about it, Josuke's voice sounds slightly deeper than how he normally sounds. He wanted to blame it on puberty or his Joestar genes but that wouldn't explain how bulkier he was in that moment and how his facial features matured. If anyone didn't know any better, Josuke would have been mistaken for Jotaro at first glance, save for that ridiculous hairdo. With this in mind, Rohan surrenders and promises Josuke that he's not going to use Heaven's Door on him if he let him go (since he's also curious about why he was in his house).
It turns out this Josuke was from the future a few years after the Kira incident, and he was chasing a stand usee over Rohan's house before he was attacked and sent back to the past. He didn't know much about the stand other than the fact that he would be stuck there for about a week but it would be only an hour in his present time. With that said, Rohan's previous suspicions were confirmed, and so he promptly decided to kick the poor man out.
("Are you seriously going to kick me out? I just told you I have nowhere else to go!"
"Having you around for a week would be a nuisance to my work, more importantly to me. You can survive on your own, you're not a brat anymore."
"B-but what if I handle your chores and cooking while I'm here? That way you wouldn't need to hire a maid on the weekends or order takeout like you normally do."
"Like hell I would allow you to touch my belongings after what happened before, and besides you might try to poison me!"
"Okay then what if I told you stories about some enemy stand users I've met and future stuff, you know for your manga! Surely you have to be a little curious about that, right Rohan?")
As much as it irked Rohan to be called by his name so casually, this Josuke made a fair point. After weighing the pros and cons to it, he finally allowed future Josuke to stay over for the time being. Of course there were strict rules for him afterwards, but as far as Rohan had noticed he didn't even need to scold Josuke for not following them once. It seems like this Josuke was more mature than the Josuke he knew, even going as far as to help Rohan out with mundane things as long as it was inside the house. He was actually polite and respectful towards Rohan, and despite Rohan's protests, he actually enjoyed his company.
On the last day of their week, Rohan had to shove him in a hallway closet because Koichi and his friends had come over for a surprise visit which meant of course- Josuke being there too. There was really nothing much future Josuke could do but wait it out and pray he doesn't get noticed. It was painfully cramped in there, but nothing could compare to the pain of secondhand embarrassment in watching his younger self fighting (failing to flirt) with Rohan as he watched Rohan stormed away, clearly offended by what Josuke had said.
Once Rohan's guests were gone, future Josuke snuck out to go look for Rohan, unsurprisingly in his studio still fuming over how much of an asshole Josuke was and didn't get why he's trying to ruin his life. All future Josuke could do was laugh lightly and apologize on how much of an idiot he was on his behalf and hints out that *maybe* He's trying to make an effort to get along with him but he doesn't know how to approach him right. He also goes on about how much he knew about Rohan in intimate detail to the point that Rohan just stares at him wide eyed before asking how does he know so much about him.
"That's because we are friends* in the future!" he would say with a grin (But really they were lovers for almost 5 years but maybe it was best to leave out that detail for now).
With that, Rohan held mixed feelings about hearing this but then again, if Josuke turned out to be the same guy who was here with him right now, then maybe *just maybe* it was a friendship worth having. But even so he knew himself more than anyone, and knew that he wouldn't have told anyone about himself unless they were very close, unconsciously blushing when he drew to the conclusion that they could actually have been TOGETHER in the future. And before Rohan had the chance to ask him, he noticed future Josuke had vanished.
Not a trace left of him aside from a small notebook page on the couch that read, "You'll have to stick around and see! ;) - Jojo"
