Northern Thailand in rainy season can be worth a visit. Heavy rain means the waterfalls are at their most beautiful, the forest are the most lush and green, and with the humidity it means you get to see those absolutely enchanting mist on the mountains. Plus it's low-season so there's less tourists. But it also means there's lot of rain, and you need a highly experienced driver, as even 4x4 can slip on some of the steep turns on the mountain paths and there's also risk of flash flood if you didn't learn to recognize signs of flood or have a guide.
