Boys' furisode (long-sleeved kimono) at different levels of dress.

When we think of furisode today, it’s only within the context of women’s garments, but during the Edo period, furisode was worn by both unmarried women and young men, specifically wakashu, adolescent boys between the ages of about 10 and their coming-of-age ceremony in their late teens to mid-20′s.

Totally underrepresented in period films, by the way, except sometimes on daimyo's pages in the background.
