Emma really didn’t know why she joined Ruby and Tink this night. She had been working all day and was exhausted and here she was, drinking herself into oblivion, trying to forget her shitty day.
“I swear to god Emma, he keeps looking at you!”, Ruby said and slapped her arm, causing the blonde to almost lose the grip around her drink.
“He doesn’t”, she groaned as a reply. The other two girls have told her since half a hour now that a guy kept looking at her with a charming smile and she did notice it but brushed it off like it was nothing.
“Go over and talk to him, he’s totally trying to flirt”, Tink pushed, smirking slightly but Emma shook her head, taking another sip from her drink.
“No thanks”, she replied and looked down in her empty glass, he was probably a douchebag like everyone else. “I’m getting a drink.”
Before her friends could answer, she got up with her empty glass and walked over to the bar, already slightly unsteady on her legs. She felt eyes on her back and she just knew the staring gaze belonged to him, so as soon as she ordered another drink, she turned around and walked over to where he was leaning against the wall.
“Okay, what are you doing?”, she asked, gripping the glass around her hand a little tighter than she meant to.
His blue eyes looked directly into hers now when he grinned, licking his bottom lip. “I’m flirting with you.”
She sighed and ran a hand over her face and couldn’t deny that he was handsome in the dim light of the bar.
“You’re doing a really bad job at it, you know.” Emma didn’t know where the words came from or why she was even talking to him but she would bet her last ten bucks that Ruby and Tink were cheering like school girls right now.
“Oh, why’s that?”, he asked, his smirk growing wider when he leaned forward a bit.
“Because you just keep standing here without really approaching me”, she said with a shrug and took a sip from her cocktail, looking up at him through her lashes.
“Maybe that’s because I wanted you to approach me”, he told her with a wink and she opened her mouth for a moment before she closed it again.
“Oh”, was all that came from her, slightly confused over this because normally the guys always came and annoyed her.
“Next drink is on me, what do you say?” He tilted his head to the side and look genuinely interested to spend some time with her.
For a moment she considered it before she smiled and nodded, feeling his hand on her back when he guided her towards the bar, ignoring the heat that came from his touch for now.
