The CDC established Safe Zone centered in Wicker Park is still standing over a week after the other four Safe Zones suffered security breaches and eventual abandonment. Despite increasingly savage assaults by the amassing B1Z3 sufferers, the perimeter established around Safe Zone 2 has held. Earlier in the week, a group of several dozen Chicago residents sought refuge in the already overfilled Safe Zone, but were turned away with only a few deaths after warning shots were fired into the crowd. “Sometimes these things are necessary for the greater safety of the people who followed procedure and evacuated to the Safe Zone when they were told to,” said CDC spokesman Joseph Spina. “We can’t have these Johnny-come-latleys threatening the integrity of the Safe Zone just because they didn't get the memo.”
