“Oh, fuck off.” You groaned and curled further into Alex’s chest. Alex chuckled and patted your back, but he still reached for his ringing phone on the nightstand.
“Oh fuck.” He said, shooting straight up, causing you to roll off his chest and onto your pillow. His eyes were wide and he looked at you almost in fear.
“What?” You asked him slowly, pulling the blankets over your exposed chest.
“It’s your brother.” Alex said softly, showing you the screen to see that Dylan was FaceTiming Alex.
You shuffled yourself further away from Alex so that you were as close to the edge of the bed as you could be without falling off. “Answer it. I’m just not here.”
Alex gave you a very unsure look. The two of you had been messing around for a while. You were going to the University of Chicago and Alex was playing for the Blackhawks; you knew him well since he was so close with your brother.
It started with him just wanting to make sure you were doing okay, and getting you tickets to the Blackhawks games whenever you wanted, but as time went on, the two of you just got closer and there was this tension between you. Neither one of you wanted to make that first step because of Dylan, but once it was made, there was no going back.
The two of you had been together since then.
He answered the phone with a smile. “Hey Dyls.”
“Kit!” Dylan yelled happily. You smiled. It had been a long time since you hear your brother that happy.
“What’s up?” Alex asked, furrowing his brows a little.
Dylan laughed. “I should be saying that to you. Is she hot?” You felt your heart beat faster.
Alex furrowed his bros confused. “What?” He asked, maybe a little to breathlessly.
You couldn’t see it, but Dylan’s smile widened. “You’re in bed shirtless, the pillows are all messed up behind you and you have bedhead. And it’s 9pm. You had sex with someone and not that long ago. So was she hot?”
You felt yourself go red and Alex had to restrain himself from shooting you a look. Instead, he forced a sly little smile and nodded. “Yeah, okay, she was hot.”
Dylan laughed, and Alex cut him off before he could say anything more on the matter. “Why did you call?”
Dylan’s smile widened so much that it had to hurt. “So, I just got a call…And I’ve been traded to Chicago!” He said so happily.
“WHAT?!” You shouted and slammed your hand over your mouth so hard a slapping sound could be heard throughout the room.
Alex’s eyes went super wide and his head shot to you. Both of you held your breath as you looked to each other in fear.
Dylan’s smile fell. “Wait…Is that? Is that (Y/N)?”
Alex pulled his eyes away from you and looked back to Dylan who was clenching his jaw. “What? No, no. That’s not…” He said shaking his head.
“Oh my god, it is. Why the fuck is my sist—” Alex cringed at Dylan’s words and realization hit Dylan. “YOU’RE FUCKING MY SISTER?! DUDE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!”
You cringed and scooted back to Alex, resting your head on his chest so that you were in the frame. You gave your brother a little wave. “Hi…”
“I can’t believe this.” Dylan said.
“Hey,” Alex said with an awkward smile. “We can talk about it in person because you’re coming to Chicago?!”
Being Friends To Lovers With Dylan Strome Would Include
You met Dylan in high school and the two of you became really close really fast.
He became your best friend and you became his best friend outside of the Otters.
Honestly, you had a crush on him in the beginning, but that crush died out throughout high school.
The same was said for Dylan, or so he thought.
He totally had a huge crush on you, which was why he started talking to you to begin with.
He totally thought that he could get into your pants, but then he actually started talking to you and he realized just how amazing you were and the two of you became friends, and with time best friends.
He didn’t want to risk losing that, so he never brought his crush up and he thought that it had died out as time went on…
You guys were friends, best friends, for years.
You guys were inseparable while he was with the Otters.
Always over at each other’s place.
You went to all of the Otters’ home games, always dressed in your Strome jersey.
You went to the NHL Draft with him.
You flew out to be at his first NHL game.
And that closeness never went away, even when you went away for College.
You guys Face Timed all the time, constantly texted.
You watched all his NHL and AHL games.
And you also had long phone calls with him after those games when he constantly beat himself up about not succeeded at the NHL level.
You were the first person Dylan called when he found out he was traded to Chicago.
And, my god, you were so happy for him because he would get to play with Alex again, and other good players like Jonathan Toews.
You flew out to see his first game with Chicago.
And once your semester was over, you went to Chicago for the summer to be with him.
In truth, Dylan never had an “I’m in love with you” moment because his supressed feelings slowly started to come back.
It wasn’t a tsunami of feelings, but soft waves.
His crush came back, then actual feelings and as the months went on when he got to see you every day for the first time in years, and he knew that he loved you.
But he kept those feelings a secret from you because he didn’t want to ruin your friendship.
Small things changed though, like the way he looked at you.
And the feeling of his hand on your back or on your thigh.
He got more domestic, which you didn’t think was possible.
He got softer.
And all of those things pulled your own feelings back to the surface. You started to get a crush on your best friend again.
You told your other friends about your feelings and they were like “…I thought you had been in love with him this entire time…?” Because they genuinely thought that.
“Love.”
Them saying you were in love with him made you spiral and you had the “oh my god I’m in love with him” moment, which your friends laughed at.
Your feelings ended up coming out when you got drunk and drunk you told Dylan that you loved him.
He debated whether or not to bring it up the next morning, but he was in love with you and he had to know if drunk you was telling the truth.
You were.
Neither of you had to say anything to Alex.
You just showed up at the gym for Dylan’s training hand in hand and Alex was like “FINALLY!” because he knew since Erie that both of you were in love with each other.

“What’s up?” Dylan asked Alex while they were putting on their equipment for practice. It didn’t take a genius to notice that Alex was in a bad mood, which was odd because Alex was always in a good mood.
Alex shrugged his shoulders. “It’s nothing.”
Dylan leaned over to bump his shoulder with Alex’s. “C’mon, ‘Kit.”
He shrugged again. “It’s really not important. I’m fine.” Dylan let it go, for a while.
Practice was good. It let Alex work through his frustrations and by the end of the practice, he was smiling again, which Dylan was happy about. After practice, they showered and changed before walking out of the arena together, both of them smiling and laughing. But, Alex’s smile fell when he checked his phone.
“What?” Dylan asked.
Alex shook his head. “It’s nothing.”
Dylan sighed and shoved him with his shoulder harder than he really needed too, causing Alex to step to the side and send a glare towards Dylan. “Dude.”
“I’m your best friend, tell me what’s wrong.” Dylan pressed.
Alex sighed and looked down at his phone, Snapchat still open. He held down on your name to replay the Snap and showed it to Dylan. It was a picture of you and Ralph curled up on the couch.
Dylan looked at the photo for a good long while before looking back at Alex with the most confused expression. “I don’t understand?”
“She’s snuggling Ralph.” Alex said, as if that would somehow explain everything.
Dylan paused. “So, you’re upset your girlfriend is getting along with your dog?”
“They’resnuggling.”
“Alex,” Dylan deadpanned. “Please for the love of god, spit it out.”
Alex sighed. “(Y/N) would rather spend time with Ralph than with me and she snuggles him and not me.”
Dylan’s lips twitched up. “You’re saying your girlfriend snuggles Ralph and not you?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying! If we’re on the couch, Ralph is between us, resting against her. In bed, she’ll pull Ralph up between us.”
Dylan laughed. Dylan laughed hard.
“It’s not funny.” Alex grumbled, which only made Dylan laugh harder.
“What did you expect to happen?” Dylan asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “(Y/N) is a dogperson, not a catperson.” Alex shoved Dylan, who stumbled to his side, unable to keep his balance since he was laughing so hard.
“It’s not funny.” Alex repeated.
“It’s hilarious, actually.”
“What am I supposed to do!?” He asked, and Dylan shrugged.
“Ralph is her little spoon and she’s your little spoon, just do a spooning train.” Alex tighten his lips as Dylan’s laughter carried over into his ‘advice.’ “I’m serious,” Dylan added.
“I can’t believe we’re having this conversation…”
“I can’t believe you’re jealous of your dog.” Dylan laughed.
Relationship: Pre-Established; Dylan Strome x Reader
Summary: You and Dylan end up as a beer pong team and the night can only get better.
Word Count: 740
Warnings: Alcohol.
One cup left. You had one shot and one cup left to win the tournament and you would be lying if you said you didn’t feel any pressure.
“You got this,” Dylan told you and you nodded.
Getting pulled into a beer pong tournament wasn’t what you had in mind when you let your friend drag you to a party Friday night, but the rules were a guy and a girl for every team and the guy who asked you was tall and cute, so you said yes.
You didn’t expect for the beer pong to go as well as it did, but it turned out that you and the guy, Dylan, as you found out, turned out to be a really good team. In fact, the two of you made such a good team that no one could defeat the two of you, so both of you stayed by the table and went all the way to the final and had the game hanging in the ball in your hand.
You took a deep breath and eyed the cup down before throwing. It landed in the cup and you jumped up right into Dylan’s arms with a scream. He caught you easily and you quickly realized he was a lot firmer than you were expecting.
You and Dylan laughed and he slowly set you back down onto the floor and you felt yourself blush a bit as you stepped back, realizing that you had just jumped into a stranger’s arms in the middle of a crowded room with a bunch of people watching you.
Dylan’s eyes stayed on you for a moment before a guy clapped him on his shoulder to congratulate him on winning. Others followed the guy’s lead and started to congratulate the two of you on your victory.
You and Dylan naturally drifted away after that, his friends congratulating him and you looking for your own friend that you came with. But, it wasn’t long after you found your friend that Dylan found you again.
Your friended nodded her head to something behind you and you turned around to see Dylan standing there with a nervous smile. “Hey.”
“Hi.” You replied with a smile.
“Could I maybe get you a drink that isn’t beer?” He asked with a laugh.
“Only if you tell me where you learned to have such great aim.” You said, referring how great a game he played.
Dylan’s smile softened to a more natural, genuine smile. “That’s a deal.”
You followed Dylan to the liquor table and gave him your order when he asked. He gave you the drink and made his own before leading you outside and closing the door behind him. It was much quieter on the outside deck, you could only hear the muffled music from the party.
“So, where’d you learn to throw like that.” You asked him after a moment, leaning on the deck rail to look at him.
Dylan smirked a little. “I’m actually a hockey player. I play for the Blackhawks so I have to have some pretty good hand-eye coordination.”
You tried to keep your surprise subtle, but you weren’t sure about how well you succeeded at it. “Are you serious?”
Dylan shrugged. “Yeah. What about you? Where’d you learn?”
“Practice. It’s not my first beer pong game.” You laughed and Dylan nodded.
“That’s a fair answer.”
You nodded. “More normal than being an NHL star.”
That caused Dylan to laugh and the two of you fell into a comfortable conversation and he slowly closed the distance between the two of you until he was right in front of you. He set his drink down on the rail and you took the next step, stetting your drink down next to his and taking a half step closer to him. He took the hint and brought his hand up to cup your cheek.
“Is this okay?” He asked softly and you nodded.
Dylan let his eyes drop to your lips and you leaned in slightly. Dylan closed the distance. The kiss was soft at first and his lips were slightly chapped. He put his other hand on your hip and pulled you closer to him, deepening the kiss a bit. You moved your hands up to his neck and leaned into him.
He pulled back after a bit. “Want to get out of here?”
You bit your lip and nodded. “Yeah, I think I do.”
