Ravyn Lenae • Midnight Moonlight
From time to time over the course of the last half-decade or so, those of us who have spent our time paying attention to the rising talents in town get the chance to find an act that seems years beyond their age. From Chance to Vic to the litany of young talent that has emanated from the city as of late, perhaps no single voice has impressed and raised as many eyebrows as the young, endlessly-talented Ravyn Lenae. The 18-year-old high school student currently on tour with NoName continued an impressive run of releases with the debut of her latest collection, Midnight Moonlight EP.
The latest project finds Lenae on a linear rise that has been at once sensical and strategically stretched-out. Finding a home within the ranks of collaborative teams like Classick Fam and the Medicine Women, she's been well-incubated by a contingent of fellow artists of all ages. She seems to have found a way to juxtapose the careful wisdom of those around her with the innate understanding of the intricacies of growing up with a growing conscience. Evolving from her previous release, Moon Shoes, which we named our second-best album of 2015, this six-song EP finds her growing in just about every way as an artist. With her first national touring support slot officially under her belt, with an illustrious team around her, set amongst one of the most exciting scenes in the country, the world seems to be lining up pretty well for young Ravyn. While trying to wrap up senior year via email while crisscrossing the country doing shows may be a lot to handle as a teenager, Ms. Lenae is handling it wonderfully and continues to deliver top-level music in the process. Don't tweak, get into this latest collection streaming below.
What's Up Loves?
I tried this blog thing 3(ish) years ago, and I didn't work for me... LOL. So here I am again, at a different place in my life and in my music career, and I really wanted to make sure that this time I was keeping you guys updated, and let you "dans ma métamorphose (into my metamorphosis)" ... So for those of you who know me... Enjoy :) & for those that don't--get to know me.
Cheers,
Brittany Monet
