Chick Quest is a an experimental post-punk and garage rock band from Vienna, Austria. The band is lead by multi-instrumentalist Ryan White, but also features Iris Rauh (drums), Magdalena Kraev (bass) and Marcus Racz (trumpet, keyboards & synths, piano, percussion).  After forming in 2014, they released their debut album Vs. Galore (2015). Their second full-length album Model View Controller features 10 tracks of snappy and off-kilter songwriting. If you’re a fan of classic punk and garage, check out tracks like “The Afterlife,” “Down in a Crypt” and “Savant Garde.” The lo-fi grittiness in the lead guitars are coupled with synth-driven overtones give the album true genre-bending soundscape. Additionally, White’s vocals seem to fall somewhere between Richard Hell and Thurston Moore. On “Identity Crisis in the Grocery Store” and “Brand New Crush,” the band unleashes a clash of buoyant guitar riffs, abstract synthesizers and gritty vocals. If you’re a fan of bands like Richard Hell & The Voidoids, Sonic Youth, Television or early Pavement, Chick Quest’s Model View Controller is worth the listen.

Bitter Suns are indie-punk band trio from Fort Collins, CO. Their debut EP, titled The Electric Sunshine, embodies a poppy surf-driven sound crafted with catchy hooks.

Lots of new full-length albums and EPs came out today and we are especially excited about the following new releases:

Loose Buttons – Sundays

Ever since I listened to “Am I The Only Reason” by Loose Buttons, I loved the band from the spot and made the track Song Pick of the Day. The year is still young but I know that this track will end up in my favorite songs of 2017 and who knows, maybe the EP as well, because it is full of emotion and beauty. The New York-based quartet just wrapped up their month-long residency at Pianos, and they were live as exciting as their recorded material. (Photos and show review to come).
