Snippet:

Link’s stomach drops. A roar heralds a monstrous arrival—rippling red tentacles framing a purple-ringed yellow eye erupt from the center of the vortex. Jagged teeth larger than Link’s scrawny body fill its wide mouth. It's every sailor's worst nightmare, only more ruinous.

A Gantalus.

It swings its massive head, fixing them with its bloodshot gaze. A smell like fish left to rot in the sun rolls off it in waves.

"And I thought he was ugly before," Link mutters, taking a step back.

The eye narrows, and two muscular arms covered in poisonous suckers the size of dinner plates swing across the deck, forcing everyone to drop to their bellies. They pass mere centimeters overhead toward the bow of the sloop, leaving shards of planks and railing in its wake.

"I guess I hurt its feelings."

"Stop making jokes and do something!" Zelda pierces him with a look that would freeze most men in their tracks.

"Aye-aye, Your Royal Highness," Link salutes as the King yaws dangerously on its side.

Depeche Mode forever! Feeding goth horniness since the 80s

Been an hardcore Muse fan since the early 2000's, when I was in animation school. I drew so much on their music. They were already huge in europe but no one knew them on the american continent back then but i was always specifically on the lookout for British rock bands... Map is probably my favorite song because its basically Enjoy the Silence (without a doubt my fav song of all time) but played faster. Depeche Mode influenced EVERYONE btw.

The Royal Armouries let me play about in their armour!

(This was a set from someone similar in size to me, but it wasn’t exactly correct in all dimensions. Real knights often wore armour that was made to measure, which would allow for a slightly better range of motion. However, for a video game or film character that has looted armour, then something that fits as well as this would be a best case scenario, so it still tells us a fair bit!)

2. How long have you been making comics?

My first published comic was my Pokemon Emerald nuzlocke comic from back in 2013, which was an unscripted mess and I never ended up finishing it. That was my first real attempt at a comic, and one that made me realize that long-form comics aren't for me. I do not have the forward thinking and planning skills to work on such long projects, which is why I have stuck to one-shots ever since, and that's really where I thrive. I have a much better time planning for shorter comics, and even if I don't finish one, my pre-existing works can be read independently, so I do not have to deal with the guilt and anxiety of an ongoing published wip.

13. Is comic creation your career (or part of)? If not, do you want it to be in the future?

Nope and nope! Art is strictly a casual hobby for me, and I do not plan on changing that

23. Do you have any favourite tropes/motifs/panel layouts that you like to revisit?

I have really come to appreciate long vertical panels as either establishing shots, or to emphasize the importance of a scene. Some of my favourites are

It's nothing mind-blowing, since it's pretty much just paneling 101, but I never used verticality properly in my early comics, whereas I now use vertical panels a lot more liberally

I think I mostly wanted to finish Chapter 10 to share the beautiful cover banner that @zeldieboo and @the-twilight-duchess surprised me with. Now you can see it! It is real!

I somehow accidentally wrote Zelda's Marilyn Monroe tribute on the actress's 100th birthday AND Moulin Rouge's 25th anniversary date, so it instantly earned a very special place in my heart.

After some time and more shouting and a few servants she didn’t recognize scattering up with long black electric cords, Ghirahim returned to where she waited, and gestured grandly toward the stairs. “Your stage awaits, Madame Canary.” 

“May I go up the stairs, or is there a servant’s entrance I should use instead?”

She would remember that look, the utter loss of words on his blade-tipped tongue, before she nodded to Link with a single word.

Watch.

He nodded back.

This time, the chastised revelers along the stairs tipped easily away from her, yanked out of their microcosms of pleasure to instead accept their front-row seat to the spectacle unfolding with each footfall she took closer to what was now the Dragmire throne.

The chandelier’s lights lowered as she closed in on the microphone, raising a collective gasp of awe up from the now-stilled crowd. She centered herself in front of the microphone, brushing her fingers up the gleaming stand. A blinding white light flashed to light up from the far-off atrium rafters, blinding her to the sea of revelers around and below.

“Bonne nuit,” she murmured into the grated metal, and she could practically hear Yona and Khira squealing with delight. A murmur of approval reached her from below; how does she speak Zora? “Louis,” she spoke, caressing the microphone like the jaw of a lover. “Let’s go.” 

The drum began, marching forward.

Throughout the course of Skyward Sword, Fi transforms from a completely robotic, unfeeling servant to a kind, gentle person who feels deeply for Link. One well-known incident displaying this change takes place at the top of Skipper's Retreat in the Lanayru Sand Sea: when sitting on the stool in the center, Fi notes that she hears bugs coming from above and outside. Many first-time players are initially disappointed and annoyed to make the trek outside and above Skipper's shack only to find the bugs making the noise, as they are used to being directed by Fi to only plot-relevant details. However, this one seemingly out-of-character piece of dialogue proves that Fi is no longer so mindlessly single-focused: as Link rests, she hears bugs from outside, and having taken note of the bugs players tend to enjoy catching throughout the game, she lets the player and Link know that there are bugs to catch. It is an imperfect, misconstrued method of love, but love it is nevertheless.

Lately I find myself coming back to this impromptu comic I made a while back when I couldn't sleep. I wasn't initially thinking too hard on it because Tired™️, but I think there is charm in the less-polished drawings. A pre-planned verson wouldn't have gotten the point across as well, I think, given the subject of half-formed sleepy thoughts. I would like to revisit the idea of accidentally asking deep existential questions at inopportune moments though, cause I like to be silly :)
