It's been awhile since I have updated you on my chickens and oh my do I have an update for you! Currently I am in a battle with Eleanor. She has gone broody again and been broody for about 2 weeks now. No, I haven't let her be broody, she is just so stubborn! I have tried removing her from the nesting box, blocking off the box and nest, ice packs, distracting with treats and a dip in cold water. Nothing has worked!!!! Well ontop of being stubborn she has also become mean and started picking on Penny again. So Penny is stressed and not laying. I thought my pigeon-sized Australorpe had become hawk bait yesterday (she's in the foreground). Unlike the other chickens, she thinks she's an eagle and likes to roost in the tree above the yard of the coop, so she spends a lot of time doing her own thing outside the coop. She's almost 5 years old and for her to lay two tiny, tiny eggs in a week is a big deal. So she was missing and then I went into the feed she'd last night and she was tucked in a corner in a little pile of hay under some netting. I was sure she was injured, but no. She was brooding over a PILE of tiny eggs. They won't hatch and I don't know how long they've been there, but good for her! . #farmlife #chickendrama
