on ur thing w annabeth never calling percy dumb, she never outright does i dont think. i cant remember any now, but i know theres a lot of small comments that put his intelligence down. annabeth realizes later on that hes smart, so stupidly smart, but especially in the first series, she put him down a lot (and while some of that may have been just due to not wanting to have romantic feelings for him, it still happened) -childofhades
Yeah but younger Annabeth is a basket case on its own. I love her, and one of the things I love about her is her character development. Younger Annabeth is incredibly vain and selfish. In fact, she is the opposite of Percy, because she’s book smart but doesn’t understand people and social compromise at all. (I could write an essay about her family life in relation to her fatal flaw, but that’s not the place).
During the course of the series, and specially after the Siren’s island in Sea of Monsters, she gradually matures and becomes more self-aware. That’s when her appreciation of Percy’s type of intelligence starts growing too.
