The sun had begun it's slide down the horizon, but Falkner still had no intentions of heading back. Or, more accurately, finding his way back. What was originally a simple hike had turned into something of a hunt, catching word from the locals in the area that a rare Pokemon was supposed to inhabit the forest. As far up the mountain as he already was, his stubborn nature would not allow him to descend without catching at least a glimpse. Losing light, however, was as good a signal to call it day, and find somewhere to bunker down for the night.
He released one of his newest Hoothoots, part of today's goal having been to train the Pokemon in the first place. Its eyes were no doubt better than his in the dark, and it would be a good opportunity to teach it to stay on his shoulder. As soon as it was free, however, it shot out to the left, darting between the trees as it called its name. Falkner shouted out and moved to run after it, careful not to crash headlong into a tree as he silently cursed under his breath. He would lose the favour of the light pretty soon, and then he'd be in a real predicament.
