Hello! I love your blog. I just got a canon 7d mark2 for astrophotography. I will be in a dark region of california near palo alto for the first three months of 2016. Do you have any suggestions for targets or any other suggestions at all?
Oh boy, I’m jealous! I want a perfect dark place too.I don’t think I can be much help, though. I even had to google where the heck is Palo Alto - my US geography’s not that great.
I think that you should check the constellations over your location and then check Wikipedia or something if there’s any interesting deep sky objects. Though if you only have a camera and not a telescope, I’d just take as much photos of the Milky Way as possible. You need a dark place to capture it in all it’s glory, and what a glory that is.
