Maehara is always trying to push up Chiba’s bangs and look at his eyes. And every time, Chiba dodges, scowls, and swats his hand away.
Chiba, without even thinking sometimes, has a habit of leaning onto Maehara’s shoulder anywhere. In class, outside at lunch, on the train, on a park bench, etc.
They’re both classified as Smart Dumbasses. As in, they can solve math problems in 2 seconds, then do something stupid as hell.
They’re each other’s biggest impulse control but also biggest enabler
Maehara likes to grab his guitar and try to strum it, attempt to play a song before Chiba snatches it back. “You’re a hazard to society. If you play it, we might all become deaf.” “Rude.”
For real though, they try to teach each other some of their interests. Like Maehara teaches him some lesser-known soccer tings, and Chiba tries to teach him how to play the electric guitar.
They absolutely team up in class debates, lmao as we’ve seen in fumiko’s post. The biggest one they join together in is the iconic music debate with Nakamura. And yes, Chiba purposely shared his taste in music with Maehara just to get him on his side.
Maehara gives back-hugs to all his friends, but he loves doing it to Chiba even more. Chiba is just so soft and comfy to hug, and he always smells so nice.
They toss paper notes at each other in class. But they’re not in regular letters, it’s a literal numerical/math code they invented themselves. The rest of the class (including Koro) has no idea what they’re talking about.
Sharing clothes UwU. That’s it, just imagine Maehara in one of Chiba’s hoodies. Or Chiba is one of Maehara’s letterman jackets 🥺
Staring contests never end well. Maehara initiates them, but backs out after like 2 minutes, terrified of the intense look Chiba is giving. “Ahh why are you pissed?!” “What do you mean?? I’m fine.”

It’s probably a really good thing they’re rarely ever partnered in anything in school. The one time they were working together was in biology, and it was the day of the frog dissection. Let’s just say, they made a mess and barely learned anything lmao.
