Some of the websites I use..
Not only do I want this website to be a first hand account of a person living in Nanjing, China; I also want it to be a reference for like minded individuals who enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures.
First off; while looking around for a good forum to discuss Chinese topics, I came across a lot of sites that had extremely old posts. Fortunately, I found Raoul's China Saloon which has plenty of sarcastic patrons always willing to help out and chime in. It's a great start for anyone looking to move and/or live in China.
Then, if you are planning to move to China for an extended period of time, you will definitely want to work on your Mandarin ahead of time. I have been using Memrise a lot lately. Not only is their format for teaching you new words effective, they also maintain a ranking system for everyone using the website which serves as good motivation. Also, Read Mandarin has compiled a list of the most used Chinese characters and organized them according to their frequency. It's definitely an awesome reference.
My primary job will be teaching English at a Nanjing University but since I will only be working about 20 hours a week; I've been looking into what I could do in my spare time. SinoTrav has been a fairly active website and has recently posted bar/club jobs. Then there is HelloNanjing which is the most useful website when looking for Nanjing specifics.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have! I aim to educate myself as well as others!
