13 Days until Reopening - Warblercall Feature
As you know, the server is opening memberships on August 30th! In the meantime, we’ll be counting down the days and featuring some of SOTC’s characters on our Tumblr! Today is the final day of The Clans’ longest roleplayed characters! With 13 days to go before the membership applications return, we’re featuring Warblercall of ShadowClan, played by Chinch Bug! This young Nighthunter was submitted December 31st and has been actively roleplayed for the last 8 months! After winning ShadowClan Character of the Month in March, Warblercall's been something of a rising star in ShadowClan. She was mentored by the previous deputy, Aukspark, and likes to spend her time beating other council members in spars or training her apprentice, Jaypaw. She was also part of the server's first real fight, and the infamous Mossbite incident. Tomorrow, we’ll be featuring the ThunderClan character that has caught the most prey; look forward to discovering who it is!

Dirty Rats, Bugs & Biochar
That damn, dirty rat:
The cayenne peppers are starting to ripen:
Tiny bee & chinch bug hanging out on the corn in the backyard garden:
Corn has tiny flowers & is native to the Americas. A lot bees native to the Americas are tiny. Whether you believe it is evolution or by a divine hand, you have to admire the beautiful intricacy of the web of life:
I felt my knuckle itching. Here’s hoping the scientists are right about Covid not being transmitted by mosquitoes. This lady didn’t survive biting me:
Leafhopper:
We have a gas grill & I use chunk wood to add smoke flavor. Sometimes there’s charcoaled wood leftover & I’ll use it the next time I grill. The water after soaking it looks like this - fine ash suspend in water and larger bits of floating biochar. I pour this into our first compost bin where all the rawest materials go. Biochar acts like a sponge that soaks up & stores nutrients so I wouldn’t recommend adding it directly to the soil near plants because it could pull nutrients away:
Blue sky with a dusting of fluffy clouds:

9 Days Until Reopening - Toadspring Feature
As you know, the server is opening memberships on August 30th!
In the meantime, we’ll be counting down the days and featuring some of SOTC’s characters on our Tumblr!
Today is the last day of The Clans’ most caught prey! With 9 days to go before the membership applications return, we’re featuring Toadspring of ShadowClan, played by Chinch Bug! This nighthunter makes sure the fresh-kill pile always has birds to spare! Despite his age, Toadspring seems to always have energy, whether it’s being used to check on a Clanmate or to simply go on an outing with his sister Russetfox. He is opposed to conflict and is willing to offer aid to anyone in need!
Tomorrow, we’ll be featuring the ThunderClan cat who won our character countdown raffle; look forward to discovering who it is!

FunFactFriday
Did you know that the Chinch bug is a native to the U.S. and common in the Midwestern States. They are mostly a common lawn pest but the term Chinch Bug can also be used in the Southern United States to refer to the not closely related bed bug. #FunFactFriday
