suddenly remembered that if i know french which means i can actually reread tgcf in french
so. i now have tgcf in french. what am i doing with my life...
#me being me#putting my clown nose 'this will surely help me practice the language that i don't use for a couple of years now!!'#but honestly i'm just interested in comparing the translations#sadly i won't be able to compare to the original since i don't know chinese#but i keep wondering if the original is more or less the same stylistically as the english translation#because long story short i first read it in russian and in russian it didn't give me any stylisting issues it gives the vibe of ancient#chinese setting#then i decided to read it in english because i'm absolutely normal about it + wanted to see if russian e-version censored some stuff#and i was very surprised to see how fic-like stylistically the english version is: weird formatting of dialogues#some stylistic decisions of distance measurements (i don't remember if it was tgcf or mdzs from the same editor but it#the distance in KILOMETERS (?) and I was like 'i doubt it was in kilometers in the original but ok)#so it made me wonder if the english translation is just weird stylistically or is it pretty close to the original and the russian#translation tried to be a bit more elevated and setting appropriate#so i'm lowkey interested if the french verion has a similar vibe?#but also if you know how it is in the original please let me know i'm legit interested
