Gotta say, good job on compiling and making “Chinese Privilege” known to probably every single ignorant netizen. But some things I’ve gotta point out to ya. First things first, before you say I’m one of those ignorant Chinese, I’ve been victimized as well. I’m a Chinese Muslim but obviously some narrow minded people still classify me as a Malay because of my name.
Some things are not a “Chinese Privilege” in this country. The 7th month is more of a cultural/ religious practice. It is practiced in SEA (not too sure about Europe, maybe you have friends who could enlighten us on this. Imagine the Ang Mohs just looking at the offerings on the floor. Lol.). Anyways, you can’t associate Buddhists with Chinese because in the case of myself and a few of my friends, we are Chinese Muslims. It’s the same compared to the classic 7th month and Malay weddings. Why can the Malays play kompang so loudly (and quite frequently as well, probably up to 47 weekends in a year) and we can’t even stand one month of prayers. Mind you, it’s not mindless prayers. Well we wouldn’t know but it’s a belief that it’s for their ancestors.
Another thing I saw is that you posted something about Public Holidays and that the Hindus are angry about Thaipusam not being a PH. Umm.. I hope you did your research on it. Practically yeah Vesak day is not really a Hindu holiday but their rationale is that Buddhism is a majority in India, so it’s Indian (whaaaaat?). And the government claim that each Race is to get 2 holidays right? I hope you do know that New Year is a Christian/ Catholic holiday. It has been so commercialized over the years that in fact, people just shrug this fact off, much like Valentine’s Day.So when you look at it again, the holidays are based on religion rather than race. We gave up Prophet Muhammad’s birthday too.
We wouldn’t want another racial riot to happen in Singapore. Well I wouldn’t because I don’t have a proper camp to support and would probably get killed standing in the middle.
And btw, my brother has gotten away with smoking in sheltered areas/ littering/ etc. with NEA but you’re probably gonna say that it’s Malays being united right? Hopefully not alright. Let’s not spread hate but rather awareness.
You have written so much nonsense shit here that I am not even going to be able to address them all, so I’m gonna just talk about a few of it.
A) Your religion does not negate your privilege. Race and religion are two different axes of oppression, they simply intersect in Islam in SEA because it is connected to Malays. So you telling me ur Chinese Muslim just tells me u have no problem using your religion as a tool to negate your privilege. That’s all sorts of fucked up.
B) Just because you don’t think something is a privilege, does not mean it is not. One of the functions of privilege is how invisible it is to the people who have it. So either listen to the people who are telling you how it hurts them, or shut up.
C) Your very condescending “hope you did your research on that” fuckshit is laughable cos guess what you piece of shit, I did. I wrote an entirely researched piece on it that was reprinted by TOC and other websites. So why don’t you take your sad attempt at making me seem ignorant elsewhere? You are wrong, you are very very wrong, and if you had bothered to do research like you exhorted of me, you would have realized this.
D) First you hint that I am stupid and ignorant, but then you apparently think I am so fucking powerful that I can start a racial riot just by having this blog. Which one is it? Well I am most definitely not stupid as seen by the fact that I can answer questions on race using theory and reality. Your intelligence however is quite suspect. I am also powerful, but only because I have the support of minorities, and definitely not powerful enough to incite a riot. You’d have to be all sorts of idiotic to think that.
