So we never get to see the Lightwood parents interact with Jesse AT ALL and then we don't get to see Gabrily grieve their son's death. I feel like there were a lot of things that happened off page.

Tessa has been an incompetent parent since TLH so I don't even know why I expected her to be better this time. And I'm so disappointed in Jem. Based on this installment, they're not even going to do something new to protect Kit. "OH let's put up stronger wards". Yeah because that was working before right??? How about helping kit discover his powers so he can USE THEM to defend himself against this "dark threat" that's coming?? And the thing is CC isn't going to address any of this because she thinks she's writing them to be the best parents ever like Wessa in TLH. I'm so tired. Sorry for the long rant. I feel like you're one of the very few who actually criticizes their actions

Oh heeeeyyyy! Absolutely no worries! I love reading long rants! So I kinda made one-

You're right, Tessa has been an awful parent since TLH. This women's daughter ran off with an old ass man to do necromancy (something that's literally SO dangerous) and she's all 'yeah lol but I don't have to DO anything right?' I don't like Will, that's not something I try to hide, but at least he did something IMMEDIATELY. Also they literally made out right after coming home from visiting their close friends who's daughter had just died a horrific death so I shouldn't be surprised lol

I think the reason I expected better was because they talk about Kit in a way that really makes it seem like they love more then we could ever put into words. But like. They don't even care about him past a basic 'i don't want him to die'. They just have this weird need to have a Herondale near them at all times (unless it's James and Lucie after Will dies; Tessa's gonna ditch them in that case.) I mean honestly. Do you really think they were worried about Kit in that SOBH instalment? The SECOND they had Mina I'm arms reach it was like Kit just disappeared. They didn't even look towards him.

And YES THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKING THESE PRECAUTIONS AND TRAINING HIM THE WHOLE TIME THEY LITERALLY KNEW KIT WAS GOING TO NEED THAT- you would have thought they learned from James but it's like James and Lucie don't exist and they're making these blatant mistakes for the first time.

Of course CC isn't going to address them, because she thinks she IS. She literally writes Jem and Tessa's 'love' for Kit as "tell don't show". And then bc Kit's literally never felt any love in his life he thinks they're perfect. But hey, unless you're Cordelia (only talking ant Sona here), you can't have good/alive parents and be the main character.
