These came out dry and crunchy. The taste is very plain with a hint of brown sugar. Dunking is just okay on these cookies. Overall not bad, but these also don't really do much for me.

チンスコウ

ちんすこうは、沖縄を代表する伝統的な焼き菓子です。小麦粉や砂糖、ラードなどを使って作られ、素朴で優しい甘みが特徴です。ちんすこうの生地は、小麦粉や砂糖、ラードを混ぜてこねたもので、弾力があり、ほろほろとした食感に仕上がります。基本的には素朴な甘みの「ピーナッツ味」や「プレーン味」が定番ですが、近年では「黒糖味」や「紅いも味」、果物やチョコレートなどを使ったものなど、様々なフレーバーのちんすこうも登場しています。 ちんすこうは、沖縄で古くから愛されてきたお菓子で、琉球王朝時代から作られていたと言われています。当時は「チンセンコー」と呼ばれ、中国から伝わった製法を沖縄風にアレンジしたものとされています。

Years after watching Azumanga Daioh, I finally got to try chinsuko at Okinawa Day last year. They were really good, like a cross between a shortbread biscuit and Danish butter cookie. I would definitely buy these again.
