Our Stay at Hostel Casa Chirripo
This lovely hostel is located on the main road in San Gerardo. If you plan to hike Cerro Chirripo, this might be a good place for you. The SINAC ranger station (where you have to check in to climb the mountain) is across the street. This hostel is about a mile from the trailhead.
Hostel Casa Chirripo features a terrace and views of the mountains and the river. They offer free coffee but do not have a breakfast option. The kitchen is open 7am-7pm and is fully stocked with cookware.
We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The room was simple but comfortable. There is no A/C and was not needed as the temperature drops at night. The shared bathroom had hot water.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. It may not be the best place to stay for hiking Chirripo, but it certainly met our needs.
