ok so im not very good at explaining things but i wanted to write SOMETHING about tomorrow (14th april 2022)
so tmrw is gonna be the Sinhala and Tamil new year for us Sri lankans. it's known as "aluth arvrudda" (අලුත් අවුරුද්ද) in Sinhala.
basically we celebrate the new year cuz according to Sinhalese Astrology the new year begins when the sun moves from Meena Rashiya (the house of Pisces) to Mesha Rashiya (the house of Aries). Also new year indicates the ending of the harvesting season and Spring for us. And this holiday is special to all us sri lankans (basically the whole April month is special cuz all the ehtinic groups in Sri Lanka celebrates a holiday like Sinhala and Tamils celebrate the new year, Christians celebrate the holy week (im so sorry if i said it wrong) and the Muslims Start their holy month Ramadan) Everybody is so happy and getting along and this a time where we let go of past bad things and forgive others.
We have this bunch of idk how to explain it... celebrations? we do on auspicious times like dawn of new year, inauspicious time also known as punya kalaya where we dont eat and we dont do anything, preparation of meals, etc. (I'll try to post some photos tmrw. and We also have a bunch of cool games ranging from board games to physical that we do with our relaitons, friends and family. There's even celebrations set just to play these games also know as "avrudu uthsawaya"
anyway idk if it makes much sense but April is a special month for all us Sri Lankans. (and ik i only mentioned about sinhala and tamil celebrations and not others. it's bcz i know veyr little about them and i dont wanna get anything wrong and offend ppl)
