If you look at the developmental timelines involved, you can see two completely separate epiphanies at work there. For a contrast, consider a third epiphany: look into old Math Matthew, the Fating Clone, early Saelunar Instrumentality hero. Tragic stuff. It’s all in the books.
Notice that no one knows who invented f-fields. Building the tech to make f-fields requires f-fields. Who found one first? Nobody fucking knows. Bill Bartlett didn’t know.
