It was a quiet night. He’d already made sure that they would be staying in but standing out on the deck, Arlon felt a shift in the air. So much colder than anything he’d ever felt in his whole entire life. Blinking, the vampire went inside to find Chloe, just in case something else was amiss. This city, never ending in all of it’s twists, turns, surprises. He wanted to be sure, wanted to protect her from anything else it could or would throw at them.
But what Arlon couldn’t have predicted... What he couldn’t have seen coming was her as he walked into the door. The glass dropped from his hand, shattered on the ground as his eyes went wide and his heart, already stopped, felt like it was threatening to hammer in his chest. His wife.... His mortal heart and soul was standing before him. Part of Arlon was terrified. Part of him was overjoyed, but he couldn’t discern which side won out. So he stood there in absolute paralyzed uncertainty as she looked back at him.
“Bonjour mon âme soeur.”
