Gaze flitting back and forth between your phone and the 1000 piece puzzle you tucked just out of sight under the couch, you wait. Phone, puzzle. Puzzle, phone. You were never the best at identifying your emotions and labeling them, but if you had to guess, you'd say you feel... Nervous? But also maybe... Galvanized?

No, that word is too big for you in even your best moments, and this is definitely not your best moment when it comes to using 100% of your brainpower on higher level thinking. Right now you're running on pure adrenaline and a plan you'd spent minimum time thinking through when you were walking back from your session with Futurekat. Because even if Treekat didn't like Futurekat for whatever had gone down between them before your reawakening, that didn't mean that Futurekat didn't have a point. You'd spent too much time trying to talk things through when it was really time for action.

Action... As soon as you heard that familiar padding of Treekat coming through the doorway. But until then, all you could do was listen intently and pray that this would all go according to plan.

The messages began to ping on your outdated phone seemingly the instant after you’d come back inside from your morning walk, and just like that, you’re walking back outside before ever having gotten the chance to warm up. The sweater Treekat had loaned you is thick and warm, but the chill still manages to sneak through the gaps in the fabric to chill you to the bone. That being said, the cold horror at the messages you’d received probably isn’t helping.

As you walk back towards the small gathering of pines, you can’t stop mentally running through the series of messages you’d received. He wants to talk… About things. And insisted on it being in person. You know you’re not always the smartest, but even you have to see the writing on the wall. This isn’t going to be a happy conversation.

By the time you reach the pine trees, you’re just about dragging your feet across the soft springy ground beneath you. You can feel the way that the ground has thawed to welcome the slow arrival of springtime, but it’s hard to feel excited for its arrival when the soil is smearing across your shoes. It feels impossible to force yourself to step into the clearing, and your shoulders are already slumped in defeat as you glance around to see if Treekat has arrived yet.
