The stars twinkled up ahead in the sky, in the inky darkness, as the moon shined its beautiful light down on the sea that held Poseidon's Revenge II.
Everyone had stuffed their faces with cooked salt-cured chicken and some dried beans with mashed potatoes, a bit spicy as César helped with the cooking and had bought some spices to use (Paprika- was practically begging to use it. And it did add a good kicker to the meal), and a crap ton of vegetables such as celery and carrots with peas and turnip-greens. He also made them all eat a fruit before washing this down with rum, or water. As César found out how to make clean pure water for them all.
For dessert though, it was only jam biscuits. But that was enough.
Everyone had their fill. Despite the weird paprika spice being used, and how César made them all drink water instead of rum, it was a nice meal. One of the most delicious honestly. Maybe it had to do with César's modern-day cooking techniques, or it had to do with the fact that the ingredients all complemented each other.
Anyway.
In the captain's cabin, César had gotten settled in Edward's room by sitting on a chair and doing his hair up. Edward was blowing out a candle and had gotten ready for bed with César.
And Oliver.
Tonight, Oliver wanted to cuddle with César, and César was going to spend the night in Edward's room like he usually did every other day. So César said "Just sandwich me", and that they're planning to do.
Edward and Oliver still have some bad feelings from the past between them. But nothing that would jeopardise César's happiness. Just small things like the fact that Oliver IS a Cochrane and is getting used to pirate life, and Edward has to get along with a man who also loves HIS man.
But they got along surprisingly well every other time.
Though the sleeping arrangement for tonight was... Unusual. They trusted César to know what he was asking for, and that it would work.
Oliver had settled into Edward's bed absolutely fine.
Usually, he slept with the crew in the hammock down in the Fo'c'sle. Sometimes he and César shared his bed space and opted for the floor (as a hammock can usually only situate one person.) covered in blankets and sharing a pillow that César owned and frequently washed (fuck hair lice), and usually they'd hold on to each other for dear life as the ship rocked in the sea.
So imagine how he was in Edward's bed, which actually had a mattress and was big enough for 2, or in this case 3.
He had stretched out his body and was starfishing. Being the first in the bed, César was brushing his hair and braiding it tightly before putting it in a bun and wrapping it up in a scarf tightly. Edward was done blowing out a candle that was set up on his dresser, and was moving to his bed.
"Would ye move your ass," Edward grumbled as he stared at Oliver, who stayed where he was.
He moved his head to look at Edward, putting a hand behind his ear.
"Oh, sorry? What did you say? I'm simply enjoying how comfortable this is." He had a small smile on his face. Didn't know whether it was from lightly annoying him or actually enjoying the bed, but Edward hated it.
Edward kneeled down and pushed him to the side. Gaining a small "hey!" As he lay down on his back. He and Oliver had a fair distance between them as they waited for César.
After tying his hair up, César made his way over to the bed and slid into the empty spot that the 2 men had made conveniently between them, for him.
He yawned as he lay on his side, eyeing Edward.
"Come over here..." His deep voice was soft, and full of affection as he put a hand out towards Edward.
He grabbed the collar of Edward's shirt and tugged on it once before Edward got the memo.
"Alright, alright..." Edward smiled at César, who had taken his hand back.
Moving next to him, laying so much closer, his arms found themselves wrapping around César's body. His waist was encompassed in a tight hold. It made César smile at the sudden warmth.
As Edward put his chin on César's head, rubbing his back, César turned his head to look back at Oliver.
"Are you going to just... Stay over there, Lieutenant?"
"I'm not a Lieutenant anymore..." Oliver shook his head, "And no. I wouldn't want to stay over here... Away from you..."
Oliver moved closer, and he pressed a kiss on César's cheek when his body met his, making him giggle. His right arm went under César's armpit and laid over César's bare chest, and his left arm went through the 'hole' that was made between César's left shoulder and the side of his head- wrapping around his neck lightly and gripping his shoulder.
César felt warm. Warmer than he usually did whenever he was cutting either of them. 3 human bodies, well actually 2 and 1 half-human bodies, equal lots of warmth from their body heat.
It was comfortable, and it made César smile as he closed his eyes.
He wrapped his leg around Edward's waist, and let Oliver intertwine their leg with his. His body relaxed almost immediately, feeling safe in their duo embrace. He let out a hum as he got sleepy from the warmth.
Edward had given César a forehead kiss, as he hummed. Oliver burrowed his face into the crook of César's neck. All was good. Life wasn't good.
A slow, soft, melodious hymn came from César's throat. It was gentle, like calm waves under the moon, and it was sweet to the ears.
César always sang himself to sleep, and it gave anyone around him a glimpse of how his siren song worked, truly.
If César ever sang himself to sleep when he was sharing a sleeping space with Oliver, in the same room with the rest of the crew, they would tell him that they felt "Sleepy", "Calm", sometimes they "Couldn't think" And would wake up saying "I had a damn good sleep last night.".
It cajoled their minds to ease, which would be terrifying in other circumstances- but here, it was perfect.
_Send me to the deep blue sea of my mind... Rock me gently like the seals that sleep in the waters of the divine..._
Those were the only lyrics they could really hear. But it didn't matter if it all made sense or not. It sounded calming, and they felt themselves drifting off...
_Kiss me goodnight, my moon and sun, and keep me here in your arms... I will see you when the sky is filled with a blazing fire when today is memories for later..._
...
César hummed still when he slept. It was his version of snoring, and it kept them all at ease in dreamland as they slept peacefully...
