We know that Olivia is a big part of Purity's life, how big an influence is Frank to the twins? How do they feel about him? Does he ever consider them to be his pseudo-sons?

Frank is a sort of Father figure to the boys, but never really regarded as a Father, they call him 'Frank' or other silly pet names depending on the situation, while Lucky is a lot more receptive of Frank being a Father to them, Freddie is a little bit more iffy on the inside, not really feeling comfortable with Frank 'replacing' his real Father so tries to cause him as much trouble as he can.

Eventually it becomes a game of "who can make Frank react the biggest", and for the first year or so they drive him up the wall.

Frank regards them as sons of sorts, he treats them as he would if they were his boys, although they are a lot of trouble and run circles around him at the best of times. Two mischievous boys who are constantly running on the same trouble making wave length poses a few problems for the ageing man.

Really he sympathises for them rather than getting mad at them for being terrible, they have had a hard time with being discarded by their mother so he tries his best to raise them to be respectable young men and keep them out of trouble.

Despite their ins and outs, Frank is a rather big figure in their lives, and although they are troublesome and act like they don't want him in their lives, they are quick to run to him for advice when they are troubled or upset.

He's not so much an influence as he is a strong father figure for them.

Hey, does Frank ever smile after... well after Melody passes?

Frank didn't smile much to begin with, but yes he does eventually, the kids make him laugh often, especially the twins with their rowdy ridiculous antics, he learns to loosen up and let the kids be kids, even going so far to be the instigator to riling them up so he can have a laugh watching them lose their shit.

Really the boys may be more anal about incompetence than Frank is, especially when it comes to things they are in to like games in general, they would remind him of himself when he was younger, so more often than not he would deliberately feign ignorance about what he is doing while they go crazy trying to get him to do things right.

For years they would probably think he's senile or something, and tell Olivia that she's with a stupid man, which would probably amuse him even more.

He learns to laugh at his own expense, which probably did him a world of good in the long run.

So yes Frank does lighten up a lot and smile a lot more often, not that he ever forgets Melody, but she would hate for him to be alone and moping forever.

(Also Modern setting Frank still feels so weird to do now, even though it's his original setting I was so used to him being set in the 1940's XD)

Out of curiosity, what ultimately leads Frank and Olivia to change their relationship from one of dear friends to something more romantic?

Olivia and Franks friendship goes back to before he married Melody, and Olivia's feelings for Frank went unsaid for a very long time, Frank being Frank would never pick up on it unless it was said straight to him so a romance that could have bloomed never did, and he moved on, met other people and married.

Through the whole ordeal of Melody's passing and Frank's falling apart, Olivia was there to pick up the pieces as a friend and keep him on his toes, she put her romantic feelings aside for both him and Purity, and was constantly on call as sort of an advisor for what to do because his daughter is being a girl again, it took many years of her pretty much living there full time with the twins she cared for as well, for him to really feel affectionate towards her, not until Purity was in high school that they finally shared a mutual love for one another, and mostly through Purity's remarks about Frank and Olivia practically behaving like a married couple through playful bickering and just general fondness of one another.

Really it was as though they were a couple the whole time without realising it, they were always just too comfortable around one another to notice.

I suppose their relationship wasn't so much spawned of attraction and affectionate lovey dovey-ness, but mostly through circumstance and a bond that grew over time spent together being a family, a broken, and rather disjointed one, but still a family.

Out of curiosity, because I love your characters--what is Olivia and Purity's relationship like, seeing as Olivia is close to Frank? :D

Purity and Olivia a very close and on a more Mother/daughter level.

Olivia has been there for both Frank and Purity since Melody's passing, she was there to pick Frank back up, and was always there to make sure Purity was well while Frank worked, she's a very selfless kind of woman who put her whole life on hold for others, and Purity is very aware of the personal sacrifices Olivia has made for them, and idolises her greatly.

Olivia also thinks the world of both Frank and Purity, she isn't upset about not being able to have a family of her own since she is helping to take care of Purity alongside the Twin boys, Freddie and Lucky who she took in when her close friend found she couldn't cope.

Purity learned a lot from Olivia, she was the strongest female influence in her life, and probably the reason for Purity being a lot softer than Frank is capable of. She learned to cook well and probably how to embrace her more feminine side.

Olivia and Frank together create a rather traditional household as far as gender roles go, which is probably why Purity's behaviour sometimes would come off as a tad outdated/old fashioned.

But yes short answer is that Olivia and Purity get along very well, they would have their moments but be very quick to forgive one another and go back to enjoying each others company, and Purity would be over the moon when Frank remarries to the woman she already considers her Mother.

For Frank, would you rather be able to fly or read minds?

Frank: "Personally I would rather not know what goes on in others minds, There's such things as knowing far too much about things one doesn't need to know, and everyone needs their secrets I suppose, as much as I disagree with many of what others get up to in their private time.

Flying would be preferable, I imagine it would feel like a release, something to take your mind off of the world instead of an ability that would fuel ones curiosity to invade the privacy of anothers mind."

Kaan: "Um, yes I have... I like smores but we don't have them often... Dad says if I eat them I'll make myself sick..."

((Kaan and his Mother share an insufferable sweet tooth, but unfortunately the man of the house is a strict vegan and can't stand junk food so it's more of a treat for Mother/Son times when Dad isn't looking. Kaan spends most of his money on sweets that he hides for later consumption. That is if his Mother doesn't find his stash first and take them for herself. Basically Kaan and his Mother fight over candy when no one is looking.))
